Looking online and all around I see that many older set of Paulson chips face the issue of rounding corners that become more round than sharp at the edges. Though is just because of them being clay? Or is this rather a common issue for all poker chips even Ceramic types?

Any chips that go thru a casino are going to wear, and clay isn't that hard of a material. It'll wear and round thru play. All chips will wear, even Bud Jones plastics, but all in different ways. Clays will become Bike Tires and round out. Ceramics will round out less, but the design will fade off the fronts quicker than clay as it's printed.

But generally home sets will not wear to this level, as that wear is being used 24/7 for years at a time. 20-30 cash games a year, and it'll take decades to really show true bike tire wear. My ASM Bulldog rounders set has over 700 games on it, and the wear is minimal.
