I have Abbiatis and BRProPoker chips. I love them both and they do feel very different. But I commonly see Abbiatis referred to as “high end plastics” and the latter as ceramic chips.

So what is the difference in materials? Are the ceramics made of plastic too? They are definitely harder, and the Abbiatis are softer. Just curious if anyone has more details on what makes up these chips and why they feel so different.

They are both plastic but the blend of polymers used in both are different and likely proprietary

Ceramic chips are one-shot injection molded as white blanks, which are then painted printed on to whatever design you like.

Plastic chips are multi-shot injection molded using differently colored materials, which creates the desired design (of course you could have one-shot chips with just a single color as well).

Materials can and do vary from manufacturer to another.
