I am designing a set for two tables of .50/1 NLHE that can go higher if needed. Settled on the FDL mold for now. Frac will likely be .25 but could change down the road.

Here is what I have so far. I feel good about the frac, $1, and $5. Leaning strongly towards the first $25 (6DSA18) but do like the 6D18 as well. I am stuck on the $100. I have 2 that I like here but below am going to post a bunch of alternate $100s.

Please chime in with tips, advice and opinions.

I don’t know if budget is a concern, but if it is the level 9 $1 chips will add up fast when you need 400+ of them. Same with $25 and 200+ of them.

I would be concerned about dirty stacks with the $5 & $25 as well. 2 similar colors.

You have some very cool chips to build a set around. Keep tinkering.

Sorry, I can't read the fine print on that pic, but a 618 chip with two colors is level 9???

I'm following close and will be interested in what your numbers are going to be. I'm also planning a similar sized set that can play up and cover two tables.

I feel that the $5 spot doesn’t really go with the rest of the set
Yeah i can see that. So which direction should I go? Was really liking the dunes inspired $5. Is it mainly the color schemes that aren’t aligning or the spots too?

CPC 18 spots are insane. Even 418 with one color is L6. If budget is a concern, I would recommend switching away from 18 spots with the exception of a $100 chip. The $1 as you have it now would be $5.62 / chip.

You could try 3D14 or 3TA316 spots for the $1. I'd also be a little warry of dirty stacks with the $5 and $25 both using green and even the light blue spots mixing with the $1s.

First versions of your $25 and $100 are my preferences. I think the thicker spot pattern of the 4DSA316 stands out a lot more.

I like the frac, though I'd urge you to get a sample set and decide if you like the yellow in person before committing to an order. CPC yellows (canary and dg) look quite different in person - personally, they're a bit dull imo, but perhaps I've just been spoiled by the cali Paulson sets I own.

Like the $1 a lot, but it'll be expensive. Still, I'd rather spend money on a workhorse chip I love than compromise.

The $5 doesn't do much for me at all. Reminds me of the Paulson mold Classic $5, which isn't a good thing.

I am definitely going to get samples before ordering. So I may go ahead and abandon the Dunes clone $5. Not sure where to go for a $5 now. Here’s a few other ones I had made, which would then require the $1 to be changed. I’m not sure if I want any white spots on the $5 tho. These colors probably don’t fit well with the rest of the set too.

I think if you're trying to emulate the Dunes $5, you're going to want a lighter green then. Probably DG green or light green, as those are the only CPC options that come close. Green is pretty dark and is more similar to the aforementioned Paulson Classic $5 and really changes the look of the chip. That said, even with a lighter green, the base red on the Dune chip pops a fair bit more than CPC retro red.

This shit is so confusing. I'm watching with great interest, as I'm working my way to a custom CPC cash set, but, its a little overwhelming.

It’s starting to feel like a rubic’s cube.

Probably one of the biggest pitfalls, so far, is I've been going out of my phone. Probably not the best idea.

I have this chip in my set which is also level 9. How is that $1 chip as complicated as this? And this is just going to be a top end $500 chip that I only order a barrel of. All my workhorse chips are level 4 and below.

Why not just go 614, or even 414 on your $1 instead of 618? That would save a ton of money. You can still keep your original $5 which is really nice as 414 to 4D14 is a nice progression. Then on $5 to $25, just use a different green. I'm probably going DG green base on my $25. You could also switch one of the greens to retro green. Or change the DG Tiger spot to something not in the red family. Although I don't think that's that big of an issue with teh $5 since it's only a small 18 spot.

THIS! Change the $5 spot to DG green. Problem solved.

I have this chip in my set which is also level 9. How is that $1 chip as complicated as this?
David wrote something up, but it basically has to do with the quantity and type of cuts. The 18s are harder and quickly drive up the price. The additional 12s are easier.

But my chip is both a 618 on top of a 312. That basic 618 should be no more than a 7 or an 8.

There is no 618 punch. They have to punch the 318 twice, making sure to get the second punch aligned properly so it doesn't look all offset and wonky. It's simply a greater amount of labor to make a 618. What seems like a L7 or L8 to you or I is a L9 for CPC for a reason.

What looks like a 618 on top of a 312 is actually a 318 and a *separate* 312 with a specific punch to make that combination. It's not as simple as making a 618 punch "on top" of a 312.

This will be a lifetime set for me so I am willing to splurge a little. I just like the 618 a lot. The good news is the frac and $5 are L4 so that will save a lot.

Here is the current iteration of the set with improved Dunes inspired $5. Also I realized this thread should maybe go in the mockup forum, if a mod wants to move it thats cool, if it stays here thats fine too.

I agree with the others in the cost is going to be extremely high.
Too much blue and green in my opinion.
There’s blue in 4 of the 5 chips and green in 3 of the 4 you will use the most. (The $100 will most likely never be used in a .50/1 game)
I personally don’t like the skinny spots mixed in with the thicker spots but to each their own.

I like each chip individually but not combined. (This has always been my problem when trying to create sets)

Good luck as things progress!

That makes perfect sense. I just did a thread with my own soon to be forever custom set. Number one person you need to please is you. I had people in my thread tell me not to use certain spots or colors. I listened to all the advice and made some tweaks, but I also discarded some of it, because... MY CHIPS!

I do like the change in green on the $5. I see zero dirty stack issues now between the 5 & 25.

So you said you want to cover two tables and possible growth. Same with my set. Do you have an idea yet how many of each denom you will order?

I havent gotten that far along yet. My current set is as follows.

200 x .25 (too many)
360 x $1
340 x 5 (want more)
80 x 25
20 x 100

new set could be something like the following
140 x .25
300-400 x 1
400-500 x 5
100 x 25
100 x 100

@GetUrShineBox The problem with the colors is that theres a limited amount of colors to choose from. I already have blue, green, yellow, red, orange, grey, black, white and pink. I dont want any browns, purples, or maroons. Isn't it kind of an impossible task to not have any colors repeat?

Were you trying to make the next FDL run? FYI, orders for that may already be closed or very close to it. Last I heard it may run late spring/early summer. I would check to see if you need or can get the order in, otherwise you may not be getting this done until 2024.

No, I am not in any rush. Still need a lot of time to make sure I get the design right. Kind of stuck on the question of whether or not too many ships share colors.

Some new versions that are an attempt to have less of the same colors in the set. I am actually really liking this new $5. Also debating on trying out the tri moon for the $1

Royals inspired $1, although I might be sad to not have a blue chip in the set.
1.1.3 grey $1.png

Decent $1 but kind of same colors as frac. Could change the frac to suit it.
1.1.3 blue$1.png

mellowed out $1 to calm things down a little.

This new $5 is intended to be a PCA clone

Across 5 chips... definitely not. With 3 chips having DG Peacock the remaining 2 look awkward without it. Try different shades of blue. Even with dull colours, the right contrast between them can create a set that pops. Use DG Yellow in place of DG Saturn. Lastly change your background colour to grey.
