Fair Market Value.....I cam almost say that with a straight face
Hahaha... I'm not complaining or taking sides (or starting another donnybrook). Just trying to show that the market can be killer for a new chipper, and also a brutal horrible mistress ...

I’m a new chipper. This market is horrendous. Anything even remotely nice is thousands of dollars. As it stands, I’ll be slowly collecting from reliable sites as long as I can because I personally don’t have that kind of disposable income and in my opinion anything over $2 per chip is fleecing the market unless what you’re selling is rare or something. It’s too much.
Hammer...is that you?

Oh no. That's below the belt for even my standards. Hahah
Just joking. I do agree with him. My best advice @JRReynolds6181 is to find something you like and plan to acquire them and in the meantime find something more reasonable to hold you over. China clays, mixed sets, well used chips etc. Or you could always play the trade up game. Buy a set, play it, save up, sell it for what you paid (or more if you so choose) combine with savings and buy a bigger nicer set. That's kinda how I started years ago. Now I just avoid the super expensive stuff and find things that I like. I'm a used casino chip guy, mint customs are not my cup of tea. Mainly because of cost.

See. We are now best friends.

I would say the market has changed quite a bit and not only from GB's. You are seeing many of the chips go up in price. We have also seen many of the newer members getting into the more sought after chips as well which creates a supply and demand problem.

I believe that the forum sees so many of the premium chips for sale that no one lists the other less expensive Paulson chips which are still great chips. Benny's and GV come to mind. In fact me first "real" Paulson set was a large primary GV set. I ended up selling that set and purchased my firs Nevada set of Tropicanas. At the time I thought I was paying tons of money for those 400 chips. It was a great buy and now that set is over 1000 chips and got me into collecting Nevada sets and racks. After tons of $$$ later I am pretty happy where I have ended up.

@Marhault My plan exactly. I have a 1200 chip Milano set and I’ve just started the process of S-l-o-w-l-y acquiring Horseshoe Cinci chips.

I just think sometimes we need to step back and get a grip. I see some of the most beautiful chip sets imaginable and it will be $500 a rack and it blows me away. I can’t even imagine. Mostly I’m just being whiny because I’m not in that market/world and I’m envious. XD

This is why I don't buy Paulsons...
