I just think of Sam's Town $1s which are kinda the most beloved Hot Stamps coming out of an active casino. You can get them brand new, sharp as day, clean and clear stamps. Get them used, doesn't even have to be bike tires, and a lot of the stamp can be worn off. So just take that into consideration when looking at sets that are getting a lot of regular play and seeing a worn stamp on them.
Sam’s town stamps are very weak and not deep at all. I wouldn’t worry if the stamps are nice and deep

When you order hot stamps you need to allow for a 10% error rate. Then you will get a full rack of good stamps in the quantity you desire. This is no matter who the manufacturer is.

I think hot stamps in general are a huge disadvantage. Some of the stamps won’t come out of the factory perfect. The process of stamping can warp the clay. And the stamps wear off! You can’t wear off an inlay. And oh by the way, cleaning them without damaging them is a huge pain.
I’ve always said that you can’t be nervous to play with your chips. If you’re worried about your players wearing your chips by shuffling them - where’s the joy? But I would absolutely worry about chips wearing from play, if I’d paid for mint hot stamps.
I don’t hate hot stamps; I actually like them. I own a hot stamp set. But they’re casino used and fairly worn, so the damage is done - I don’t have to worry about them.
I think you’re right to ask the questions you’re asking about imperfect stamps from CPC. But since it’s such a concern of yours, maybe you should rethink a custom hot stamp set.

This is why used chips are sometimes better than new ones. I just play with the used. And new ones often lie on the shelf.
Perhaps I'll wait for the samples and decide whether I can live with it or not.

I got mine too. And almost all have shadows in stamping. And not always in the center. In fact, they could have been better. But, in general, I like them.
I noticed that the quality has improved compared to ASM. CPC great fellows! And when shuffled, they sound a little different and very nice.

I have a question about the texture in E&C mold.
When i look at the smal crown and the E&C, i then see that smal crown have smoth surface and the E&C have ruff surface.
Is it possible to choose smoth surface on the E&C ?
Reason i ask is that on the Fleru de lys there is a combination of both textures.

No, you can’t choose. That texture is a feature of the mold. And I’m not sure what you mean about the FDL, but if you’re saying that some chips of the same mold have more texture than others, that is common and presumably a result of the molds aging? I’ve actually seen it on multiple molds, including the elephant and crown mold.

But again, no. That texture on the outside and smoothness on the inside are features of the mold. The only way to alter that would be to creat new molds, which has been discussed as cost prohibitive.
Obviously it's completely preference, but I think most folks tend to lean towards preferring some texture on their chips, it makes them nice and buttery. The texture also helps a bit with stack stability (added surface friction). IMHO the only real benefit of a smooth surface to the inlay is they definitely allow for a sharper inlay image. That's why it's perfect for the FDL mold, which has that big inlay area - you see a lot of more complex, colorful inlay designs on that mold because you have the extra space and the smooth inlay area, they make for great little artwork canvases.
Yes, the texture is quite prominent on E&C (and A-mold too). Like @Irish said, it's completely a preference thing; I personally prefer less texture.
The CSQ mold is a good example of a textured mold that is so well-worn, the texture is not nearly as prominent. You can tell it used to be there, but the chips are pretty smooth overall.
Yes i see that diamond square and circle square have little less than the others.

I like the fun of the E&C and will go with my design.
I am in no rush since i think the cost of the set will be around $3-4 pr chip. so i will use long my time on the design.

I didn’t say they’re not awesome. Those are beautiful. But you know they’ll show wear before inlays. It’s science.
(Also, let me know when it’s time to give opinions on the fraction chip)

Edit: I also think light stamps are more prone to wear. Deeper stamps have more of a recess which in turn should help to protect the foil.
Either way, I don't have any concern with these wearing prematurely.
