I guess good controversial take, but only because it’s a poor take.
A lot of the folks buying the wsop rio sets (off the top of my mind) already owned rhc and even repeatedly have mentioned their love of leaded rhc.
Not to mention the clamor over TCR sales which have been mostly RHC in total. Yes the forum in a vacuum would lean towards/choose thc over rhc. That doesn’t make your statement valid.

I’ve been a RHC fan for a long time, but there is a lot of negativity, some popularity polls suggest they are of lesser quality, this cannot be denied. It’s funny how some of those same deep pocketed THC members are now paying premium top dollar for lowly RHC chips.

The forum has multiple entries discussing at length, and it’s (very much just on the surface) thc > rhc > cpc/high end plastics/enter stuff here > all gets jumbled between customs, providers like br poker, etc etc etc.

It seems like we’re real good about deciphering good vs bad THC, RHC, plastics, etc.
It’s downright bizarre that those convos can all be layered and multi/faceted, yet the TRK discussion never gets past “TRK BEST!” and “TRK trash!”.
While I don’t know, my personal take is that TRK owners are trying to protect their interests and it’s in their best interest for the convo to remain superficial.
Because….sure the absolute best 1% of Trks can be pretty cool. And those kings were one of my top 3 favorite sets my first years here (even tried building a set for a second).
Beyond that? They’re trash. Design, looks, how well they go with other items/have a theme to be built on, uniqueness - the majority of them are garbage outside of feel and history.
Go ahead, pull out a chip set from the 1960s that has little to nothing else on the face but the denom and chips looks like they have a muted off white covering each chip. See how much chippers or lay people want that over all the gorgeous sets out there.
No im not talking about your gorgeous TRK set that costs $20k now. I’m talking about every other piece of junk sitting out there.

Some of this may or may not apply to my dumb*ss, I think all of them apply to me at least once at some point:
Players, including and possibly especially pcfers and chippers, are god awful at middling in every sense of the word.
I don’t play a ton, but almost every single game I’ve played at, the players at middle seats are absolute god awful. Can’t be bothered to push a pot, can’t gather cards, nothing. If they aren’t in the hand, their on phones or engaged elsewhere. Like holy fucking h*ll, where are the basic manners?
I’ll get messed up and park a car on your roof and drug your cat and steal your kids homework, but I’m going to at least push chips/cards if I’m sober enough to breathe on my own.
- If you are too inebriated from any substance to play the hand, you’re probably a net negative to the game. If it’s a regular occurrence, even more so.
- If you refuse to play a game - hold em, circus, etc., you’re a huge net negative and should just go home. You can fold pre every hand (why are you even here?), just don’t make a big to do about it.
- If you’re a host, and you’ve changed what game is being played or never know what the game/rotation is until everyone shows up/minutes before the night starts, well it’s not a great sign.
- Poker is meant to be fun, if dealer flashes a card or it flips over, the house rule of leaving it up to the player to keep it or not is awesome. (Although they have to decide that second, no waiting for more cards, taking a peek again at what they have, etc.)

I just instituted that rule at the last game I hosted. You want to keep an ace when everybody knows you have it? Sure, what the hell.
But I’m having second thoughts. It was their first card in NLHE, so who cares? But if it’s their second card, that choice is an advantage. And if it’s their 4th card in Omaha, it’s a huge advantage. So, I dunno.

I like it especially for self deals. The amount of people that can’t not flip over cards while dealing is crazy.
But I do get it for hold em, all that info is a ton of power. Not remotely as powerful a tool in scarney, multi boards, split pots, etc.
I’m not dogging hold em or tourneys, but caveat that everything I say pretty much applies to mixed cash.

I'm posting in a thread, posts in the theme of said thread. Plug in anyone's name next to my previous posts here from today, and they'll get no stupid sh*t responses. Again, the stupid shit responses have literally, absolutely nothing to do with my posts or this thread.
I've not responded to nonsense, outside of that wsop thread, in ages. The nonsense never stops unless I quit posting, and if I start posting, immediately resumes (as shown). Hell, I generally only post across 3-5 different threads anyways just to avoid this.

Ignoring it was the wrong call, replying to it was the wrong call, etc. At this point I just figure I'm good - if the people who dislike me most also happen to be thief's, cheaters, liars, etc., I can't be that mad. If nothing else, it's a memorable experience and might serve me well moving forward as I join new groups/social circles. This is my first primarily online hobby/platform/communication thing in my life, and lord willing, my last.
I don't mind responding, but I hate to see this thread derailed for no reason.
