#11 - you tell your friends how much the chips are worth and make them promise to never tell your wife.

Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions

This is potentially the ugliest set of chips in existence. All the chips/spots in the set are pretty much a variant of the same 5'ish colors. What were they thinking??!

This is a pic of Brad Owen's stack from a tourney late in 2023.

I’ve only seen them used for a few WPT events during the year end WPT championship tourney series.

They may have gone Chipco bc the WPT
championship wynn chips are also chipco.

Maybe bc WPT pays for them?

Or bc steve wynn is gone and they cut corners now.

They couldn’t spend a couple pennies to align the faux clay edge spots?

Is this the Things that are bullshit thread?

Wynn has a long history of hideous chips, but people tend to excuse them because they're simple or classic.
These Chipcos, with Chipco written on the edge? Eff that. They better have been provided for free, in exchange for the free advertising. I hought that company didn't exist anymore. Did somebody just buy the name?

I’m certain WPT provides them and Chipco/Wynn sponsored them.

Was thinking about it just for fun, and here’s my chipper/chipaholic scale:

1 - you’ve bought your Tina/TCR/CPC/1st set and yet you still browse PCF

2 - you play only cash games 95% of the time and yet you want a tournament set for “security” since the group you play with has only been friends for 20 years (or vice versa)

3 - you collect sample sets, dealer buttons, and/or multiple single chip card cappers (+0.5 if they’re in a plastic case)

4 - you want multiple sets so you can rotate them

6 - you have spent time overlabeling

7 - you have oiled/baked chips and read 20 pages about it

8 - you have murdered/relabeled chips

9 - you have built a perfect custom set for which you spent hours removing the original labels, then found racks with marginally better colors/edgespots and replaced perfectly fine chips with slightly better ones

10 - despite painstakingly creating your perfect custom set in #9, you want more

Guilty on all counts, Your Honor

Yeah, so?

Yo, if you are simultaneously looking at both the faces and the edges of poker chips, you're clearly not paying enough attention to the fucking game at hand. Priorities, bro.

Controversial chip and poker opinions. See above. :D

It's the latest iteration of the Game On Chip Company, reaching back to their early roots in the casino gaming business. "Chipco" still has some latent brand name recognition in the industry, unlike GOCC.

Paulson Vineyards are mediocre at best. CAMB
Finally, someone I like that I can disagree with. Paulson Vineyards top 3 set all time for me.

I understand objectively why they aren't all that to all people, but for me they were a top 3 when I saw them the first time and remain so. I think people feel about them they way I feel about Dunes though. Dunes I don't think would crack my top 10.

I think they're one of those sets that were really cool back before there weren't many casino sets available. But as more sets have come to market, they're less fantastic, more nostalgic. I dunno, that's what I say about any giant inlay RHC set that people seem to like.

I agree with both of your statements. Dunes won't crack my top 10, but Vineyards will make it into my top 10.

Then again, I love my Aces set, which is probably why Vineyards are up there for me. You could say I'm a bit biased.

Tina/ceramic chips that are basically ripoffs of an old casino chip but have just the slightest name change or detail suck balls. Billagio? Mick Hobson's? Who are you kidding. Just copy the fkn chip, no one cares if you have fakes in your 10c/20c game. Jesus
So you think making a Woollagio set is not a good idea?

More WPT Chipco chips (wpt cruise event)

Yeah, those are pretty horrid. Sorta like PAULSON CHIPS mold if the letters were filled with white paint to stand out more.
Didn’t we see some chips in the Maint Event for like one single year that had a Paulson plastic insert on the rolling edge?

Yeah, it said WSOP, right? I remember there were lots of complaints about the spot pattern being a cat whisker pattern.

I, myself, thought it looked great and would love to have a playable set of those. Unfortunately there's no opportunity to get it nor the funds required to do so

These? Those are interesting edge spots.

Never say never, but I will never create a set of chips through CPC. I've never had the slightest interest, I've never created a real mockup. In a way, I collect those for display because I personally don't have the eye or desire to do my own.
I know we are all different...thats quite obvious from our dramatic likes/dislikes. However, I have no idea how this is possible from such a long-term active member.
