Club Hel: Choice is an Illusion (CPC) (5 Viewers)

Hmm, no mockups from Empire yet. (I have a preview render from @Ray-Col though :D)

I'll try to at least get the shipping details down by Monday evening.

More on the laser-tech to pull off the fading ornament without actually lasering gradients ;)

Ordered two more birdcages on Monday to give the Hels a nice comfy home once they arrive.

Currently looking into having custom cards made again.
Given the ridiculous price you pay for low quantities, they'll probably never get used in actual play (the MPC ones have somewhat bad handling anyway) but might look really nice on the shelf or in pr0n shots. Thinking of the full deal - custom plastic double deck, custom cardboard tuck boxes, custom double deck box.
But damn man, that amount of Illustrator work on the cards... ugh.

Also I'll have some cut cards made by Empire as well when I place the DB order later today.
The white on black and brushed gold already looks quite nice, I bet black on silver is absolute balls!

Update: Got invoice and sent payment for the dealer buttons earlier today.
Still no news on the chips production. I'll wait a little longer.

Update: Dealer buttons are done. Cut cards will take longer but Empire said they'll ship the buttons now and then later the cards separately. Acrylic carriers arrived yesterday. Still nothing new on the chip production.

Haven't heard anything from Empire yet, and neither CPC. Guess Empire changed their mind about partial shipping. According to his last message he should be restocking the material that was out by sometime next week. Still unsure if I should email CPC or not.

Yesterday, my custom cut acrylic chip display cases arrived. Will also get transparent backplates as a replacement for the black ones. One for my workplace and one for home, both will hold a denom sample set and a pill chip :)

Now if I can figure out how to get these sealed without getting dust/lint inside...

It’s pretty unusual to hear any status updates from CPC, and the vast majority of us don’t expect them. We’ve been down the road enough to know they’re done when they’re done. Typically you get one proof update from them, and then you don’t hear from them again until you get a shipping notice. Anywho, the HHR run is probably coming to a close soon so it shouldn’t be too much longer before yours are up.

Yeah, I guess if you have had business with a place multiple times already you no longer wonder about certain things. But for first timers like me, it's all new.
I simply like seeing how the stuff is progressing, particularly when the process is one of the longer-running sort, and I would be lying if I claimed to not be impatient.

Well, it's a wait-and-see I guess

Well, it's a wait-and-see
Basically. If chipping has taught me anything, it’s to embrace the wait. I’m not a generally patient man but in this hobby nothing happens quickly other than your bankroll going up in flames. In my experience it makes the end product better, or at least feel more rewarding when you finally get the payoff. I know of some difficult to get casino sets that have slowly been collated out there, and once those final pieces are completed...hoo boy, I’d love to be at those tables when the chips finally hit the felt just to see their owners faces. It’s similar with customs. You take time to design a concept. Then more time to finalize the chips. Then it takes time for the artist to get back to you. Then more time to finalize the art. Then there’s the wait for your mold to be mounted. And then the wait for the shipping notice. And the worst of them all - the wait between the notice and arrival at your door. But then when you finally crack those boxes, play with the chippies, oil them up, and tosse them on the felt for poker & pr0n....good times, mate...good times!

So yeah, give into the wait! Embrace it, don’t fight it. Looking forward to those first quick pics of the chips & the subsequent sample sets!

Been a while since the last update.

Dealer buttons are here, and the one button for @Ronoh also is on its way. Trying to get the tracking# for that one.

The white-on-black cut cards didn't turn out well so Empire is going to remake them. They made me a nice lucky chip as consolation for the extra wait :p

Great idea and great design.
Thank you for sharing all the design process ideas!

I’d like a full set of samples+extras+DB if still on time and if you don’t mind shipping to Italy.

Sadly already too late for sample set orders - the order was placed at the beginning of October, CPC was already half done mixing the clay material when I finalized it mid-October, and very likely they're already pressing the chips right now. No way to catch the current production run now with an add-on order.

While I might receive a couple of extra chips marked as samples, I already have one guy on priority waiting list for those. So a full set will likely not be possible, but maybe some of the undenominated extras. I'll have to see how many bonus chips I will actually receive, if any. If David's worst-case production time estimate is accurate, I should receive all the stuff within a month or so.

You can still get a dealer button though - as far as I know, Empire does single buttons too. They're out of office right now but should be back in about 3-4 weeks.
No idea about shipping costs of a single button within the EU (directly from France) but shipping a single button to the US was around €6 or so - EU probably won't be more expensive than that.

Thank you!
I would be glad to buy a few bits you are willing to part with. I’ll try and get back to you in a month or so to understand what’s available.
Can’t wait to see the pr0n of the actual set!!!

My cpcs were finished and shipped without a shipping notice. Didn’t even realise until I followed up. You can always hope the same happens.

Hmm, I simply assumed you'd get shipping notice since I've read of others receiving one.
If that's not always the case...

... to email CPC or not to email CPC...
