Chips you dislike (2 Viewers)

- Pretty much any chip with split spots, including and especially the Paulson style 31 (although for some reason the Grand Casino Gulfports don't really tilt me).

- Aztar Missouri $5's (along with almost every giant inlay chip there is, with Duy's Palace being a noteable exception). Why, Chip God, why???

- Chips made by ICON and Gemaco, respectively (WTF, Cromwell??? You're supposed to be an upscale establishment and you hit us with basement chips???)

- Most casino ceramics

Damn! A diss on the Empress secondary hundo! Wasn’t expecting to see that! :D

Lost $500 at the table?, that's the least of your worries, when this clown kills you in your dreams

Part of me is glad I skipped CCs and came straight here. The other part of me wishes I went with CCs and never found this place lol. I think if I wasn't such a collector and didn't have a "gotta have the best" mentality I would be fine with just a set of CCs.

Honestly I am very surprised someone has not taken over the high end home game chip market with clay chips on the same quality and feel level as Paulson. Seems like it would be quite profitable if done right.

I really hope you just had a small TIA and only temporarily forgot about CPC. ;)

While most will agree that their chips have a look and feel that is different to Paulson, CPC makes a comparable product of the highest quality, and they bend over backward to serve PCF and keep this niche market happy while also running a profitable business.

Regarding profitability, making custom compression-molded chips is highly labor intensive, and while @David Spragg doesn't go into detail, I'd venture a guess that CPC gets a pretty lean margin on the chips they make for the home market.

Of course I didn't forget CPC. Their custom chips are awesome and they are amazing people. From talking with them their profit margins are very tight indeed, there was no amount of chips we could buy in a group buy to get the price down they are so tight and I respect that.

I was talking about more stock designed clay chips, think aurora star/empress star, fantasy casino chips of the highest quality, I am sure if done right they could sell for around the same price as Paulson's 2.50-3.50 per chip. I wish Paulson would have just stayed in the home market, but that would get rid of the thrill of the hunt and I understand the casino's concerns.

I wish they would at least allow large community drive group buys of a custom/fantasy casino set on the THC mold if it was approved and did not copy live casino chips.

Ah good - so a misunderstanding rather than a mini-stroke. Glad I didn't have to call 911. :D

I don't get all the hate for Ceramics. I think when the design is done well they can be great chips. I really do like the textured feel until they are worn out.

Agreed. I very much like the feel of the ceramics. I may be alone but I actually enjoy the Tiki Kings and Nevada Jack designs. Their edge spots are well done as well.

Oh, and I have never seen an A-mold chip I like. The only acceptable inlay on an A-mold chip is from the University of Alabama, and I don't like SEC football.
I thought they did a pretty good job with the Atlantic hot-stamps. Plus I have a bunch destined to be Atlanta Series of Poker chips.....

I don't always CIC or BJ, but when I do, they gotta have denoms written on the side. That is all.

...and yes, I now see these need a good cleaning

Well, technically this is where CPC is. I think there profit margin is not as high as you might think. It is not easy to make a compression clay chip with a variety of molds and spot patterns.

Check out my avatar!
How on earth did you get that? (Congrats, btw:))
I thought that if anyone deserved such a certificate (if it existed) for risking their health for the sake of Kentucky mountain communities, it would have to be me:D

Join their ambassador program, they send some awesome swag every year, and visit the distillery. It's a great tour and when your barrel matures, you can get two bottles with your name on the label.

Kind of a hike for you...

Lets talk about this one ....when I went into Hard Rock a couple years ago and got these lame-o chips at a table, I had a hard time reading what they said. All those great $5 chips they have and this is what you get when you need $1's

Oh my! That might be the biggest waste of a THC mold chip I've seen. They should have used the RHC mold for something that bad. (While I don't hate them, I'm not a fan of the RHC mold. ;))

Mine is probably least popular but my top 3 dislikes:
3. Hotstamps
2. Solids
1. Solid Hotstamps !!!

I'm just not interested.
