Chips you dislike (14 Viewers)

Pineapple mold (all of them)
Paulson Chips mold (all of them)
Fleur de Lis mold (almost all of them, exception... @bivey did that mold right)

TR King
--- They are fine. I don't get their draw though. The Trops and Kings Crown are sweet and a few other collectables are great, but the feel and playability are inferior to Paulson, CPC and yes, Bud Jones. Jessie Becks are the stuff nightmares are made of.

lol, just the one side, dude.... the other side is pretty sweet. Seriously thinking about subjecting all of mine to inlay replacement surgery to have both sides match. Or maybe replace granny's face with one of my dog. :)

So this place was my old stomping ground when I was in college (Syracuse) .... even back then, I thought these chips sucked.

Zzzzzzzzzz boring. No wonder Ray Rice was all agitated and amped up ... these chips will make anyone mad

It is not nice of @RocAFella1 to point this out :) I have made a point NOT to make notice of the SCV/LCV difference because my OCD will ruin chips for me.
Agreed. Please don’t tell me about any other chips like this, I like to live in a bubble.

If I find any of the chips I own have this, next game the table will be glaring at me since I’ll forget it’s my turn cause I’m too busy making sure all the chips in my stack are turned either LCV or SCV up.

It's been two years and four months; time to dig up this old dead thread because it's awesome. It's great to see so many people expressing their wise judgement [nods sagely] and their ridiculous notions [shakes head in pity]. Makes you appreciate how different we are and how this hobby can cater to people with such varying tastes, even if most of them are wrong.

Everyone oughtta have the stones to post at least one opinion that'll make someone ticked off. Here's a few of mine:
  • RHC, of course. Okay, that one's a gimme.
  • Casino inlays. They're tacky and ugly. A few notable exceptions exist like Starlites and Empress.
  • Bear-claw spots. Too busy, too orthogonal, too reminiscent of a tic-tac-toe board.
  • Le Paulson Noirs. I hate them because I want to love them but the spots on everything but the 1, 10, and 5000 are hideous (see above re bear claws). I want these chips so badly but I know that the spots will drive me nuts every time I look at them.
  • Elites. They look like they're trying to be Noir clones, but they miss the mark, and they feel awful. They feel hollow. I never thought poker chips could feel hollow. Every chip feels different but I love the way all of them feel - all of them except the Elites.
  • Monacos. Same as the Elites but they're not even trying to look nice.
Your turn.

I have 2 chip lines that I hate
  1. Paulson Classics - I respect them for being Paulsons, but the inlay and mold are awful
  2. Paulson Pro Series - With the same white spots, along with a shitty mold, basically the dice chips of the Paulson brand

I’m not alone! In the good old days somebody made a plastic chip with an obvious knockoff of the classics inlay design. On Chiptalk I said something to the effect of “Serves Paulson right for making such an awful design”. Thirty replies later I learned just how passionate Paulson fans can be.

It was shortly thereafter I came to realize looks are the least important thing compared to stacking, sound, and feel.

Wow I don’t think anyone mentioned the Yakamas. When I first joined I was after the Yakama Legends so my first set of real chips were the Yakamas. Today, those are chips on my don’t like list.
Could we start a most disliked custom chip sets thread? Lol

I used to dislike Paulson Classics, despite playing a cash set in high rotation many years ago. Ugly coloured inlays and all.

But as the years have passed they have grown on me. I am attracted to the very ugliness that used to put me off. Like an out of date style that eventually comes back in fashion.

Maybe it is the familiarity of those colours and edge spots after prolonged exposure. Maybe just nostalgia for simpler times.

I am not saying they are the nuts. Far from it. But I like them now. And this time I am reacquiring a set for keeps.

I have no interest in ceramics, and don’t understand why anyone would. [ducking various heavy, thrown objects]
I agreed with this sentiment...

Dodge....dodge...weave.... dodge (same thrown objects)

Until I sampled me some Alibaba $0.30 cards mold awesomeness! Changed my mind....

Giant inlays
'Paulson Chips' mold

Useless denoms. For example, 25¢ and 50¢ in the same set if used at the same time. It's fine if you have different nights of 25¢/50¢ or 50¢/$1. But don't use both at the same time. Pick ONE for christ sakes.
