Chips you dislike (13 Viewers)

In no particular order....

house molds
giant inlays
dice chips
tri-moon spots
people hoarding Jack-Todd diamond chips. I need to fill out my set!

I particularly hate, and yes I use the word hate, the following:
1. Hot stamps
2. Any ceramics, but especially Tiki Kings and Dia De Los Muertos
3. Dice chips, only because I got suckered into buying them and found out how terrible they were when I actually got them. I don’t understand how anybody can still use them considering there are better looking slugged alternatives out there for reasonable prices

I'm also not a big fan of chips with white background inlays for the most part. Nothing pops like a chips with a color or black inlay background.

I’m the opposite.
Oh look at me, I’m a modern chip with a black inlay and some words and I look like every other chip produced in the last ten years . . .

It's funny. I'm the complete opposite. I don't like black inlays. JACK, yuck!:vomit:

Jack Inlays are the most booooooooo-ring inlays I have ever seen. The suits are okay but kinda small but the text is just so plain Jane. I would have preferred some color to give it a little life, instead it looks like a skinflint lawyer who moonlights as a baggage slinger in order to get discounted airline tickets designed them.

We all definitely have our likes and dislikes! It didn't hit me until I looked back on my chipping journey. I ended up with Crystal Parks and Majestics, both with dark colored inlays. I'm not going to go out and say I hate all white background inlay chips because there are some awesome ones out there but for whatever reason, I gravitate to the darker color inlays for some reason. It doesn't have to be just black!

Thankfully, people have different tastes when it comes to chips, as we do with women, cars and so on.. I probably find some chips beautiful, while others find them absolutely disgusting, and I'm OK with that :p

I see a lot of hate for ceramic chips, which is interesting. I guess I'm weird, because I love ceramics. Most here are all wet over Paulson chips for example (quality wise that is understandable), but I would never in a million years let it land on my table if I find the design ugly, no matter how rare or legendary it is.
I enjoy the feeling of the ceramic chips, as it has the same surface on the entire chip, and I like the feeling of a quality ceramic chip in my fingers. That is a major point as to why I prefer it. There are also a lot of really cool designs on it, as it has less limitations, so I am usually more drawn to that, compared to clay designs. Notable exceptions exist though, for example this stunning set https://www.pokerchipforum.com/chipdb/horseshoe-pesta-1895.36/ is totally the bomb! And ceramic chip designs that are terrible of course also exist in the lots, like the Dia De Los Muertos.. (ref point below in terms of overly corny designs).

Trigger warning, here are things that I personally don't like in chips, ordered in severity of dislike:

- Every giant inlays and/or chips with real images on them, in existence. No, just, please. Think of the children.
- Chips with overly corny designs (western, national flags, clowns, cartoons, cowboys, skulls or excessively themed etc..) Combine several of those for added dislike effect exponentially to make my neck hairs rise.
- Paulson Classics, Paulson Pharaohs, WTHC, for example. (the colors, combination of colors (edge spots f.ex), inlay and overall design is terrible).
- China clays. The smell, the feel in my fingers, slipperiness. It's just all wrong. It was suggested to me as it seems like most do when you are new here. (f.ex Majestics, even though design wise I just found it OK, I bought a sample set just to test). I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want this over ceramics. Truly baffling.
- Brown chips. Not the greatest color mate..
- Lots of different colors on each chip. (often combined with lots of stuff going on at the edge spots). Make up your mind, what colors do you want?
- Hot stamps. Just not my cup of tea.

Added bonus (it's mainly a OCD annoyance, it isn't really a major dislike unless it is really bad):
The markings from the edges when they connect to the face of the chips, when they look "slapped on in a hurry".
Some are bad, some are pretty clean and barely noticeable.

This one here though. Looks like something someone painted on in the shed while having a gun pointed to their head.
That’s the beauty of clay chips - every chip is unique! I’ve even seen it imitated on ceramic chips. One guy even had multiple versions of each denomination made, with slight variations on the edge spots, to make them appear unique.

I'm aware. What can I say, people are different =)

- Brown chips. The color is shit. Literally.
- Lots of different colors on each chip. (often combined with lots of stuff going on at the edge spots). Make up your mind, what colors do you want?
- Hot stamps. Just not my cup of tea, no hard feelings.
