Been having a home game for a while usually around 5-6 people with the occasional 8 persons game. Nothing crazy we are just friends that gather during football or fight nights etc.

we have been playing on a cheap 50$ foldable felt thing table and the typical walmart plastic chip set. With us getting more frequent i would really like to get a good cash chip set and a good tournament chip set and eventually a table.

Anyways was told to come here and do some research. thanks

Welcome! Spend some time browsing through some of the forums here, there is a ton of knowledgeable information gathered from years of experience. Upgrading chips are great, but, new things that will be most noticed and appreciated are table and chair upgrades.

IMO table and chairs are the first priority, especially because if you're going to invest in good chips, it's likely going to take you a while to decide.

I just got one of these from Costco and love it ($229 if you pick it up yourself): https://www.costco.com/barrington-10-player-poker-table-with-led-lights.product.4000292881.html

For chips, you want to decide on your budget first - "good" chips range from fifty cents a chip to more than $10 a chip. This groupbuy thread has good middle of the road options that would cost you a lot more retail: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...greek-mold-cards-mold-no-mold-12-2024.126051/. Obviously if you have a little more to spend, folks in the classifieds here have a ton of higher end stuff (clay chips).

Take your time! It’s easy to get overwhelmed here. There is a ton of great information , learn to use the search function to find just about anything you’ll ever want or need to know. Have fun! Welcome!!

Welcome to PCF! I'd definitely recommend checking out the group buy for a better set of chips, and one of the barrington tables is a pretty major upgrade - usually costs around $200, but maybe the boys can split it  :ROFLMAO:

Welcome… My advice would be to get a decent table first, one which can handle 8/9 players.

Much as I’m a chipper, and we’re all here first for tha chips, I think it would help you grow the game faster to do the table first, chips second, because:

1) Unfortunately many players just don’t notice chips unless they are either really special… or really disgustingly dirty. This is not a reason not to get better chips, just a question of the priority of upgrades.

2) It will be hard to expand your game at a small, substandard table. A nicer, larger table will immediately get noticed, allow for more room and players, may lead to regs wanting to invite others. You don’t need to break the bank, just make an actual step up.

That said, look forward to you buying racks of Paulsons to murder and relabel at a cost of 10+ bucks/chip in a few years…

Welcome! You'll find plenty of resources on all of these subjects here.
