Caught a skunk (1 Viewer)

Hold Up Wait A Minute Its A 22 Pew Pew Pew

Fill a garbage can with water. Cover the cage, and drop it in.

Problem solved.
I had a neighbor that convinced me to do this to a humongous raccoon I trapped. That is one issue. Not good for the soul. But sometime shit has to be done. The thing I caution you to think about is timing and disposal. We did this on a Saturday night in summer, and triple bagged the f-er and the trash guy comes on Friday, next. The smell of death lingers after it’s been sous vide in the garbage can for 6 days. You can’t get rid of it.

We buried it in the field after letting it marinate for a few hours

Got any scores to settle?

I always feared this when I was trapping groundhogs! I once got an opossum but luckily never a skunk.

PA also has relocation laws for varmints leaving you no choice but to wack em. I relocated the first one only to find out later it would have been a $500 fine.

I usually wait until trash nice then put a pellet behind the head. 22 is overkill. Thing is they must have wised up because they won’t go in the cage anymore.

Don’t know what I would do with a skunk!!

I once shot a mangy rabid looking raccoon in the head with a 22 short in my back yard then dragged it pretty far back in the woods behind my house and buried it in a shallow grave. My neighbor is a card carrying PETA member and her dogs apparently dug it up and dragged it back to her yard. There is more to the story but let’s just say that was about 18 years ago and she hasn’t felt the same about me since. I had little kids at the time and the dang thing would not leave my yard in broad daylight. I did what I had to do.

I replaced my crawl space vents during the daytime a few days ago. Occasionally I would step away to get a tool or cut the plastic I was using and what not. So after that, I noticed in my basement that certain things were not in the same place each morning. I set a trap tonight and caught a frickin opossum. In my house, in my basement, because he crawled in and couldn't get out once I finished the vents. I released him to the outside and he/she seemed pretty thankful after spending a few days sleeping in my crawlspace rent-free.

I encountered a skunk this week about 6 in the morning on my bicycle. He was running across the road in our subdivision and I literally had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting him. I was worried about getting sprayed but he just kept on going thankfully.

It was probably a she. Probably with a brood of babies. Especially it was something Spring time.

She would have been grateful if you also gave her a massage like Ms. Pearl.

The vast majority of opossums are outside and you shouldn't let leave them there?

That's the elephant in the room?

And remember, the best part about slunks is the Bloody Mary bath afterward...

Want them in the cage, try this:

https://www.wildlifecontrolsupplies.com/animal/NWS009.html

dip some apple slices in this, but the apple slices in a small bowl made of lettuce leaves. They will go get it. It's like magic.

Also, to avoid catching skunks, close the traps at night if you're not trapping nocturnal pests.
