Casino Montreux tribute (1 Viewer)

Although it certainly isn't bad, I'm not a huge fan of #3 for this set. Either 1 or 2 is great, but if you go with #1 then I agree with what @Forty4 said - use the 814 for the $25 and don't look back.

Also, I see the denoms are indeed slightly bigger than the original - they look great at that size, and the color gradient used in the background helps them to pop on their own w/o having to be red/yellow/colored.

I honestly think these are ship-worthy if you're satisfied with #1 or #2...just make sure that $25 uses 818-spots and get that order paid!

I like #2 as well.

Let's talk about the hundo.

I'm thinking white graphic and tried a few other alternatives to see if any top my existing $100.

I think I like them all. the 6A18 is kinda plain compared to the rest.

I think I like 4DSA316 on FDL mold again (back to the old $5).

New $25 and $100. I really like them all. Some of the previous sets had compromises to fit a pattern like only 1/4" spots, but this version puts a different edge type (mostly) on each chip. They're all vastly different and easy to differentiate. The $25 is now $4.32 per chip which is yikes so maybe I'll get 60 $25 and 40 $100.

I think the $100 with the black background, in the below frig around, is outa site. I think I might use it but keep the gradient backgrounds on the $.25, $1, $5 and $25.

With the darker section of the gradient background matching the dark edge color. $25 is the exception with just a darker green. Not sure why I didn't do this before. I think it looks great.

I've lessened the gradient and intensified the hotel graphic. Also increased the size of Montreux and Casino . Concert Hall by 1 pt.

Going with 60 of the L11 $25s and 40 of the $100s.

Trigger has been pulled and the files have been sent to David.

See yas in 3 months. ;)

It's true that the enemy of progress is perfection.

When I last contacted David at CPC he told me that the FDL mold had just finished a run and won't be on the press until September. Since I've been so indecisive lately he told me that he'd give me until end of June to finalize my design so it could make the FDL run in Sept. So I though long and hard about my design. The monochrome is okay but the light and dark spots make it so busy looking. The $1 and $5 especially. As a result I decided to start from scratch and try for a two color set without any rules other than each chip should be very easily distinguishable and no repeating patterns. Also I've decided that since I have group of 5c/10c players from work, I wouldn't mind getting a nickle but I didn't want to sacrifice the hundo. Therefore I decided to include an NCV in place of the hundo / nickle. With simpler patterns come a simpler inlay where I've decided to keep it a blackish bg.

Here's what I've come up with. Any feedback?

Please keep the black $100 from post #45 in the final set. It is the best chip overall imo.

I hear ya man. It's a really great chip. It would void the need for NCV chips, but I could do it. I'd need to get more chips though. :)
That'd make it...

80x 5c
120x 25c
200x $1
200x $5
80x $25
20x $100

One thing is the $5 is full of black n retro lavender which comprises most of the $100.

Hmmm. I guess they're still quite distinguishable.

Would it look weird having a Dual spot as the quarter and in the $25 but not in the $1 or $5? I like the D14 edges better than quarter pie or 2DSA316 which are all L3. Also thinking of using DG Green as the base for the $25.

Not sure if I should use the solid black 614 on the $1 with peacock or on the $5 with Retro Lavender. I like the non black $5 better than the non black $1. Using it on the $1 makes the progression a little easier as I can go 2D14, 614, 3D14, 814.

Wow...at some point, you have to lock this down, right?

While I still think what I saw in 39/40 was the best I've seen, I like post 50 of the new set the best. Furthermore, I think post 51 is a giant step back from 50.

Going with an NCV instead of a denominated $100 is a great choice for utility, and I think it looks good, too :)

Thanks for the feedback. The dual color edges and gradient inlay had me feeling they were too busy looking and I wanted something a bit more simple. Also after seeing the 614 yellow/black chip in a recent CPC set, I wanted to use that edge /color. I like it better on the $5, but then I have lower denoms with dual color edges, which doesn't seem right. But that dual color edge quarter is great. I want to make it work with a black spotted 614.

Do you think the set in post 50 makes sense with a dual color edge then two single color edges, then a dual color edge on the $25?

I used to love the $1 in this set, but now I dislike it. I love 614 but it I don't think I can make it work as an all blue 6A14 with dark and light alternating colors. None of my other above $1s are much better. I do like the 614 $1 with DG Peacock and black edge but it doesn't work with the rest of the set.

Perhaps this. A $1 with dark base and light edges. Retro blue does not appear to be this bright in real life. Any suggestions?
