Cashless Vegas? Could they go Chipless? (2 Viewers)

I would be sad to see casinos go chipless. It would lose the tactile aspect of gambling which I think is a large part of the experience and gratification from gambling. Slots replaced the coins and pull arm, but they have added sounds, video, music and even vibration to suck people into the experience when playing.

Maybe we'll see some kind of hybrid with RFID/NFC type technology in chips to help with tracking and mix in with digital type games like the craps machines. But that seems pretty expensive to implement.

I prey your 100% on this; however there is a new generation coming up addicted to flashing blue and white light. A generation that cant even get their heads out of their phones when with company or eating or whatever. Which brings up the effers who are on their tablets and phones at the poker tables...uuugghh

Also their more comfortable with digital betting now due to on line gaming\betting.

This is sadly very true, many younger people have never played a board game or handled anything except a mouse or controller for all of their entertainment needs. Heck they dont even have the same vital capacity as children from 20-30yrs ago. Casinos will need to have small spaces for those who fatigue fast and have attention spans of knats.

They care nothing about the nostalgia of a table game, only what makes the average patron spend the most amount of money in the quickest way possible.
No. People dont go to vegas to throw away their money as fast as they can. Some end up doing that but nobody has that on their mind when they go.

They go to be entertained. If throwing money in a hole is entertaining, they will do it. If it is not entertaining they will quickly never come back to it. Degrees of entertainment might play here, but if the casinos are designed to vacuum the money out of pockets in one day, then guess what, people will only stay one day and they probably won’t come back for another day. Ever.

They are entertainment venues and they know it.

Agreed as a Canadian there are no taxes charged on Casino winnings (gov't owns a large share of casino operations). So they get their tax money off the top essentially. I couldnt fathom gambling for any large sum in the US and paying taxes on top of the %of risk. I have never gone to vegas but if I did I would definitely be avoiding the tables and going to shows or sight seeing/activities instead.
The down side about gov't owning the majority of casino operations is that the comps suck...no free booze, sometimes free non-alcoholic drinking. "Free" rooms/transit etc after spending a gazillion dollars, many casino's cancelled their comp programs along with Covid.

I don't go to gov't Casinos here anymore since they pulled the profit sharing program between slots and horse racing. Formerly I was heavily involved as a rider/owner of thoroughbreds but the loss of the Ontario sired program and reduction in purses due to loss of shared revenue meant I had to give up my lifetime hobby. That bitterness has not ended more than 12yrs on, and I only play at home games or underground.

I'd happily play elsewhere, losing chips and allowing casino managment to use algorithms to effect outcomes would have me avoiding games altogether. Any of us who played poker on VR etc should be able to attest to situations where the algorithm seems to promote excitement over real random card allocation....poker hands with flush/house/straits seem to happen way more than standard. Once picked up on the strategy of play becomes completely different. Without actual dice, cards etc being flipped/thrown and rolled no way would I trust the casino.
