Cash and Tournament set based on card games (1 Viewer)

Hi all!

I have loved playing card games all my life and have been wanting to make a set based off them. At first, I started exploring different card backs to represent all of the games, but realized there were way too many blues, so instead I figured I would base the colors off my favorite cards in their respective games.

For the cash set, I was thinking 25c, $1, and $5

For the tournament set I was thinking either T25 or T100, whichever ended up making sense (does green even get used if not as a T25 chip)?

For starters, I figured I’d list some of the biggest candidates for chips to see what you all think of them—which look good/great or which just don’t work.

The games I’ll be targeting will be (in no particular order):

Dominion, Hearthstone, Marvel Snap, MtG, Pokémon, VS System, Yugioh

Biggest inspiration for the set would come from Yugioh’s Yata Garasu

And for Hearthstone I didn’t play for that long so I could only come up with Knife Juggler

Forgot to mention the plan would be to make them on the Greek Mold, and I am very open minded for everything. I’m not an expert on preventing dirty stacks or spot progressions once the colors are done or anything like that.

Don’t have a preference for Cali or traditional colors either.

Love this idea for Wharf! It was actually my 2nd choice to Chapel (and maybe Chapel just isn’t vibrant enough).

It’s a shame about Leeroy since I’d really want purple to be Yata from Yugioh, if possible.

Yes, chapel is tricky. Would love to see if someone can find a way to make it work because it's so iconic. Maybe the stained glass and chalice can be the accent colors.

I think you're talking about the treasures, which are pretty vibrant. I prefer the action cards because they're more specific to this game but treasures could work mixed.

I like the instant recognizability of the standard red/yellow/black, but perhaps the Dedenne is special in the TCG? Not too familiar. IMO the Dedenne's colors are not vibrant enough to make an interesting chip, but if one were to insist, perhaps it could make a Cali $20 or a "Vegas" brown $5.

Right, the problem is basically that Pikachu has never been a good card, but Dedenne was.

I wonder if stuff like Volcanion or Blacephalon have potential for a chip

Right, those are the gold values, but I am not looking to make them the chip values. Dominion would just be one of many card games represented (in this case, it’s looking like Dominion’s representation would just be a Black $100 chip

That would be neat to only pick things “worth” a tie-in to a chip value, but it isn’t easy to find many great fits even without that restriction

Definitely showing my gen 1 bias... IMO Blastoise is easily the most iconic Pokemon out of the ones you mentioned, I think it would be a good fit if it's a pretty good card.

So many of these have great palettes to work with: Mysterio, Magik, Electro, Ghost Spider, Kang, ... just depends on your color needs.
