I'm thinking about casino daily tournaments, and that attendance of the first one of the day might occasionally end up on the lighter side. With late registration and re-entries being allowed often for up to 2 hours, what happens if the tournament runs too fast? If there's 10-12 entries and you get down to, say, heads-up with the registration window still open, how do they decide how many positions get paid? Would it theoretically be possible to late-reg directly into the money (this would be absurd)? Could 3rd place re-enter repeatedly until he ends up in the money (seems unprofitable but still)? Surely at some point they have to close registration early and fix the prize pool, and surely this point has to be before the bubble. Does anyone know?
