I run a small league that's free to play but there's no re-entry allowed.
In a group of 20~60 people, a handful of people get stacked before re-entry closes (they had ~100~200 BBs but still choose to go all in on like 2 pairs or whatnot). I like to host a second chance table in which the top two chip stacks at when late registration closes get to re-enter into the tournament (it's like a mini satellite) . The downside is that the last hand at that table is just an all-in fest. Is there any way I can prevent this?
I can't just allow free entry until late registration ends because then people would play degenerately before the freezeout. I also can't say 'first one out gets a free re-entry' because that also encourages degenerate playing. Finally I don't want to have a 'if you get a bad beat you get a rebuy' because that would basically be free-rolling anyone that has a full house. So my current solution is that 2nd chance table for players to have something to do.
Are there any improvements I can make on this 2nd chance table?
