I think I can, right? And I’m not bashing the seller.
I’m actually laughing out loud at this. Why on earth are people paying over twenty bucks a chip for these things? They’re not from some legendary Vegas casino. They have absolutely no history at all. Yes, they have nice colors, but if this is about aesthetics, we have to take into account the inlay, which most people think is hideous. (I actually love the inlay, FWIW.)

I guess it’s because I’m not a singles collector or a sample set collector that I just don’t get it. These chips are only popular because they’re popular. Like, they’re the Kardassians of the poker chip world. They just showed up on eBay one day and everybody wanted a piece because they were new and pretty. And so people bought them and flipped them and flipped them and so now they’re instantly and forever legendary just because nobody can have them? It’s insanity.

And the quotes I’m seeing. How are these not selling out when people are overpaying for the latest chiproom junk? Well, I can play poker with my friends with the chiproom junk - what the heck can anybody do with these? And at this price, I’m in for two? If I start handing out kicks in the balls for half price, how many can I put you down for?

And there are multiple confidential buyers! CONFIDENTIAL BUYERS? What the hell is going on here? Unless your wife reads this site and you’re hiding them from her, what the hell? This entire place has gone freaking nuts!

You tell ‘em!

I got my hand slapped for asking if Classics were really selling for $11/chip.... and if so, I would list my 1,500 chip tourney set. I guess that was thread crapping and hurt some ones feelings.

I might get my hand slapped too, or worse. We’ll see. But if anything happens to me, please tell my

I’m with you! Then again I don’t really understand sample collecting at all. Unless it’s someone’s customs that I care about

I gonna admitted I tried so hard to resist myself from thread crapping in that sales tread since there are actually a good number of people in for a sample set there.

But not so much for this since even some FeeBay listing are selling lower than that pricing

My 2c on the Giraffes.

I think the inlay is funny af and adds to the cachet of the chips. It has become a meme within PCF and has the coolest moniker as "cocaine giraffes". So the legacy of the chips is what they have become within PCF and not necessarily casino history etc. The inlay is so bad that it has become good and become legend.

Nice color combos all the way up with a simple spot pattern and on THC. What else does a person want? It also helps that there are truly limited supply so its a perfect scenario to drive prices up. I dig it and would love to own some. I also really like the Arc Yellow / Blood Red (?) combo which isn't everyones cup of tea.

Singles value is based on their availability. These are not available anywhere else as far as I know? I think the inlay is hideous as well, but the spot pattern and colours are top notch

I was thinking of some of you folks while I was in eastern Europe a couple of weeks ago. I never fully understood the rubber duckie avatars trend but there were whole stores that sell various versions of rubber duckies in Budapest.

I thought the asking price seemed high. But I know absolutely nothing about these chips. They have nice bright colors but the inlay is complete ass. It seems to have gained a following on this site and the cool kids have these. The tribute chip sets for these is even more perplexing.

Out of curiosity, what was the IPO price when these were on eBay? And what is the current market price on these? IMHO +$20 per chip is steep. But I'm poor and dumb so what do I know?

Why on earth are people paying over twenty bucks a chip for these things?
Because people want them, they have funds, and the buyers are willing to pay the price. It's no different than anything else.

Confidential buyers are nothing new. Happens all the time for various reasons. At this point I think people are wise to do business behind the curtains, particularly for in-demand items. When people think you have something they desire, it tends to solicit unnwanted attention and/or communications. Many of the best collections out there are the ones we don't know about, and I can absolutely appreciate their discretion.

I used to rail against high chip prices. I got over it, and it's a good thing...If I had a problem with it then, I might have committed suicide by now because market prices have gone up 5x-10x since that time. With the cost of most chips being what they are these days, customs make more sense to me than anything. Sure, there's a lead time. I'll wait.

Technically, yes!

Yes, because you did it in a sales thread.

True for pretty much 99% of the stuff that hits the classifieds these days and with a few exceptions, all the racks that sell in 2 minutes for 4 digits number.

Cool samples are expensive. And I think it has gotten worse. The last TCR sale sample sells for $150. A single Mapes $100 will probably cost the same. I collect Cali Cardroom samples so I know which one I’d rather have. So maybe it’s just a question of taste?
