Just opening up a thread, to document the design of my next set of customs...my first set that I'm actually designing myself.

Here is a very quick mock to give you a flavor of what I'm thinking. I need to get a little further along in my thinking of what I want, but then I'll work with a designer. This was just a couple of minutes in PowerPoint, not trying to make it look good. Just getting the idea down on paper.

So...the idea, would be to have a different outdoor activity on each denomination.

Here are the first couple of ideas.

This project is in the infant stages. Loooooooooong way to go.

Is basecamp one word? Obviously you can do whatever you want. Just looked odd to me.

Given the name, the largest denom should have a wine glass.

No -- it's "base camp." But sooner or later, American advertising-speak corrupts everything, so "basecamp" is now often listed as an alternate spelling.

This one is close (at least it has a "relax" theme). But you're right, I'll have to see how a wine glass (or pint o' beer!) looks too.

A smoking tobacco pipe or a smoking cigar would like pretty slick IMO. Something like this? Just a casual outdoor activity. : )

I actually mocked that one up too...and fishing, ATV, mountain biking, hiking, and maybe one more that I am forgetting. :)

Edit: will post those when I get back to my computer.

Unless there's a particular preference you have in mind, I'd like to see the activities to denomination cycle from summer to winter activities (or vice-versa), or from cheapest activities to the most expensive.

Perhaps 2 of each activity for the season and then you could have A and B sides for the inlay

    Yep, that’s the plan!

I was thinking that the reverse side of each chip would have a cabin image, and this would be the same across all chips/denoms. But each denom would have a different activity on one side :)

I was thinking of cheapest to most expensive, but I like the seasonal transition too.

In order to fully justify the use of the B-mold (which is nearly a must, at this point), I think I need to switch the text, and put Basecamp on top.

Or maybe lose the "Cabin Tavern" part altogether, and just put the town (which is Roslyn WA, where the TV show Northern Exposure was filmed).

OK, again, I have put ZERO time into this, except swiping a few clip art images from the internet, and swapping them into my inlay. I haven't even tried to make them fit the chip (see the fishing inlay, for my best example of zero effort). Again, just getting ideas documented, seeing what might be worth pushing forward a bit.

It might look better if I lose the star on either side, but it might look empty. If kept, it might be even more fun to find different things to put there (like the snowflakes on the snowmobile chip). Like maybe the fishing chip should just have a big hook in the middle, and the side things could be little fish? Not sure, just spitballing still.

Obviously, this first image needs to have a cabin instead of a tent. And probably less detail. But an image like this would be on every chip, on one side. Then the activity on the other.

Is the idea growing on you yet? Like a fungus?

I like swapping out the star for a snowflake, etc, if you can find the right image for each activity.

Also, just me, I like the simplicity of a tent, fishing, a campfire and an Adirondack chair as opposed to the snowmobile and ATV. While those are outdoor activities, they don't scream nature... I'd rather a hiker and maybe a bird watcher (or just binoculars) or a deer... Or a swimmer JMHO.

If the snowmobile/ATV are a must, I think they work better on higher denoms.

How many denoms are we talking here?

HIKING BOOT! I knew I was missing something.

I see what you're saying, and agree to a point. I won't use both the snowmobile AND ATV. Probably just the snowmobile. But I *have* to use the snowmobile. The area is very very well known for snowmobiling. It's part of the way of life there. No way around that chip. And I agree, it should be the highest denom.

How many denoms? Probably 5. I have absolutely no need for more than 4 (3. if I'm being honest). But why not do another :)

Really like where you are going with this image.

I vist eastern WA (Colville national forest) every year to see the in-laws. Being from the east I'm always amazed at the vast pine forests you guys have out there. Gotta keep an element of the pine tree in the inlay! (y)

If the cabin is in Roslyn, then you definitely need a chip with a trebuchet on it.

(Northern Exposure just might have been the last TV series we ever watched. It was great!)
