Building 2 NEW Tables - Argyle Poker Night Thread (5 Viewers)

How’d you not have to recess it? There is a 3/8” recess on the handle, you’re probably using a different handle - this handle has to be recess in order for the screws holes to sit flush with the plywood.
It is surface mounted. No recess.

I made a last minute color decision before spraying the plexi - I bought "Poppy Red" before my felt was printing thinking I wanted a bright red plexi, after making a test piece - the color wasn't matching or even close enough to the red betting line. I went back up to Home Depot and picked up the "Apple Red" can, color match is 100 times better, so I applied a nice coat on the plexi tonight, I'll install the plexi tomorrow night!

Picture really don't do the colors justice - the "poppy red" is has some orange hues in it.

Are you planning to mount it painted side out? I wonder about cards and stuff nicking it up. If it's clear or frosted you could always paint the back and mount with the unfinished side out if it facing out.

Either that or clear coat the crap out of it maybe.

I’ll be painting the back side, the clear side will be on the playing surface.

There is literally nothing I don't like about that table. I typically don't like in-rail cup holders, but I will give a raised rail with a nice "wall" a pass - because the completed thing just looks so good!

From the construction to the pops of red, to the 1-2-3-4 looking suits, just awesome.

You have got some mad skillz.

Beautiful. I'd kill for a workshop to do this kind of table. I need to work in the driveway and out the back of my van. Basically I need to commit to at least a couple hours to set up and clean up. Makes it tough! Again, beautiful work!

WOW!!

And you don't think that building tables as a side gig is a good idea why...??? :wow:

It’s a lot of work and takes a ton of time, I’ve built some projects for clients in the past, if someone local to Dallas/Ft. Worth wanted the same table, I’d consider building then one for the right price.

We got the vinyl rail back from the upholstery this week, however we had to make some temporary decision regarding the felt & plexi to get the table ready for our Poker Night this Sat. The custom design felt wasn't going to be ready in time, so CasinoSupply hook us up with some SSC for cheap so we could use the table this weekend. Instead of painting the plexi and installing it with potential of scratching the paint when removing it to installing the custom felt down the road - we decided to use some left over hardboard just to get the table up to par to play on this weekend.

We decided to have a professional install the vinyl because we were nervous that we couldn't get the faux ostrich install properly since the material didn't stretch like the Whisper vinyl I used - well worth the $150.

We throw 2 coats of spray paint on the edge banding as well tonight, we'll sand and put a couple more coats on when we're ready to install the custom felt. We also cut off 1.5" off the legs, however we we're not able to reuse the rubber feet - so I'll run by Home Depot so see if I can find some ft to use.
