Building 2 NEW Tables - Argyle Poker Night Thread (4 Viewers)

Thought about getting those exact chips for my game when I can finally afford it, though have Royals for tourneys and Majestics for cash, specifically like you said about the brown Majestic 5K's.

Amazing group and setup you have overall. Very envious.

I just bought another 50 orange Majestics & I just ordered 25 pink royals - I’m going to have ABC make Majestic $25,000 labels for the 43mm chip - this will give me enough chips to have a deep stack tournament for 30 seats. I’m going to host a $120 buy in, Holiday Showdown the weekend before Thanksgiving to close out our 2019 poker season. We’re going to start with a 25K starting stack vs our normal 10k - same blind structure however this will be a freezeout tournament and the buy in will be 50% more vs our normal $80 buy-in.

We’ll see how the group likes the bigger 43mm chip with the regular 39mm majestics - being the highest denom on the table and only the final 3-5 players left will even tough them - it should have a cool feel having a bigger chip in play. I had to find a way to get that pink chip in play!

I really wanted to pick out different chips for my cash set and get custom labels made, but couldn’t justify the additional .40 cents a chip.

So I picked up the custom felt and plexi yesterday and my buddy came over to work on his table too.

The table really transformed into a poker table once you install the felt - CasinoSupply.com printed my felt, only $147 including tax and there 20 minutes from my house here in Dallas - we'll see how it performs to other custom felt suppliers in the market place.

I really like the feel of the Volaro + Sewing, a touch of 3M 77 adhesive and the custom felt - this combo is a winner in my book! Highly recommend it!

Since getting back into poker and hosting - my 4 year old loves playing with the cards and chips! lol She was the first one to play on the new felt - she approved!! "it's soft and so pretty" lol.

We bought a 1/2 sheet, 24" x 96" of .098" plexi - this will be spray painted on the back and installed in the grove to create the raised panel effect. I lucked out that Proffessional Plastic has a warehouse here in Dallas as well - $70 will call pick up for this half sheet - not bad compared to other online companies.

My buddies table has the 31" wide CasinoSupply.com legs, they work ok, a little wobble in them and there an 1.5" inches taller then the Gorilla legs - we'll be cutting them down - $100 cheaper. He decided to go with more expensive faux leather on his rail - we're debating on weather we should out source his rail and get it sewn in 4 pieces - his vinyl has ZERO stretch - the Whisper vinyl was hard enough - I'm trying to convince him that we're not going to be able to install it correctly and make it look good based on the struggles I had with Whisper vinyl - I'm afraid we'll ruin $140 worth of vinyl.

His table is ready for fabric!! Next Monday!!

The faux leather can be very hard to install correctly, especially for first time builders. Looks great when done well however! Maybe you could sell the faux leather in the classifieds and install whisper vinyl instead.

Yeah - my table was my 2nd rail I've installed - I really tired to get him to use the brown Whisper vinyl b/c of the issue of the faux vinyl does not stretch "AT ALL". He insisted we try, the inside curves are going to be so difficult if not tear from us pulling on it or the staples won't hold it. His theme is very Texas county, completely different direction then my table design. He's goes a contact in the upholstery business he's going to take a sample and some picture to see if they'll do it.

I need help making a decision on the color?!?! Originally I was going to paint the plexi red & that's the color of paint I bought - however I'm thinking silver will look really good as well, matching the suits on the felt. Thoughts???

I ran some hardboard through the drum sander to the same thickness as the plexi, to see what it would look like & to dial in the width I need to cut the plexi.

SILVER or RED plexi??

I did the exact same thing and Red was 100% the winner. I'll try to find the pics. It was just too hard to give up the color and went too well with the betting line.

LOL - the design can take both! So hard, let me know if you find any pictures of the samples pieces.

Red all the way.

Very nice tables! I think the only thing you will come to regret with more experience are those cup holders. Hopefully I'm wrong :)

Those pics make it easy - RED is for sure the winner! You're right, the betting line makes it pop! How many coats of paint did you apply to the plexi?

I just sprayed it once, just enough to completely cover it.

I think the only thing you will come to regret with more experience are those cup holders. Hopefully I'm wrong :)

I would never own a table without cup holders.

These are the dual stage cup holders, i have them in my racetrack table, never had a drink spill yet. Tables I borrowed in the past without cup holders, drinks always spilled, with side carts etc.

Lots of folks prefer under-rail cup holders to allow some more flexability with drink storage as well as seating arrangements. My first table has in-rail cupholders and I like them okay, but my next table will not have cup-holders. Unfortunately, you can't really do under-rail holders with a raised rail table.

The table looks awesome btw! Great work!

I got 2 phone calls today, one from the plexi company letting me know my plexi was ready to pick up & the other was from CasinoSupply.com letting me know my felt was ready as well - guess what I'm doing tomorrow???!?! lol

That being said, I went a head and glued up my playing surface tonight in preparation for my felt being installed tomorrow.

I used some washers to to make the T-nuts flush with the plywood, the blue tape is there just to hold them down until I got the Volaro installed with 3M 77 adhesive. I decided to go with both Volaro & sewing foam from YET - I really like the feel of the combination. My other table only has the Volaro, and it's a little to firm for my liking.

I had to throw some cards on it with some chips!!! Felt is going on it tomorrow night, plexi will be installed this weekend sometime - I have to paint the plexi and let it dry before installing.

What size is your sewing foam? I'm assuming 1/4" Volara.

I'm installing spring load handles on the bottom of the table to make handling it a little easier, the handles I'm using require them to be recessed in the plywood. I've used this handle before on another project, they work really well so that's why I choose these type of handle. I also glue and screwed a two pieces of hard maple on the bottom of the table where I'll use some hammock hardware to hand the table from the wall - I already installed some chain attached to 1300lbs eye bolts into the wall studs.

I sprayed a couple coats of black polyurethane on the bottom and edge banding that will be exposed just below the rail. Before spraying I used some wood filler to fill in all the brad nail holes around the edge banding. I used a HVLP sprayer, this makes the jobs really easy - I spent more time cleaning the HVLP gun then spraying the piece.

Legs got installed and I'll start assembling the table for the last time.

Could someone explain how exactly the spring loaded handles help? I'm sure it's obvious but I can't see it.
The handle is pulled back tight when the handle is not in use, so imagine a none spring loaded handle under a poker table, it would just hang there, possibly hitting players legs - the spring loaded handle creates a nice flush mounted handle - they also use 10 screws to secure the handle - a lot stronger then a typical gate handle.
