Building 2 NEW Tables - Argyle Poker Night Thread (3 Viewers)

Setting up for tomorrow's $80 buy-in T10000 starting stack tourney - we've got 26 seats on the list, like always - 1-2 will drop out, however it should be a fun night debuting the tables, even thought the brown table is not 100% complete, I did use a silver sharper to create a betting line, I'll do the same thing tomorrow on my black racetrack table that's hanging on the wall - I need help pulling it off - it's heavy! lol

We debuted the tables last night, we broke the records for players and buy-in's last night, hosting 26 players and 32 buy-in's - great turn out. The final 4 agreed to a chop pot at level 14 (5000/10000) *** Too early in my opinion, the game usually ends at level 16 (8000/16000). I think a couple of them were wanting to get there winnings in the 1/1 cash game to make it 9 handed to close out the night.

Tables were a hit, everyone enjoyed playing on them & I had my biggest loosing poker night to date! lol I guess that's what happens when you build 2 new tables for the poker group! ha

We had 2 PCF members play in our group for the first time last night, thanks Tam @Poker4ever & Brian @jumburger for joining the game! Brian unfortunately busted as the bubble last night!

Great set up. Such a great host. Everybody was friendly. Had a blast thanks. Thanks for having me. Cya next time

Tables look absolutely stunning! Using this as inspiration to get better at woodworking.

Planning to make a hanging rig in my garage too. I like the carabiner idea. I was also thinking of using a winch to get two hanging in my garage, one above the other

That’s a good idea, you’ll need a high ceiling 10’ at least I’d think, and it must be a heavy duty winch. Good luck!

We had out poker tournament Saturday, August heat forced us inside the house for this event - but when the pizza was delivered my house temp got hot as well - guess having 10-12 HOT pizzas with 25+ players body heat will increase any cooled space. The new tables got used for the 2nd time this past weekend and I finally placed in the money - tournaments aren't my favorite, a lot better in the cash games, none the less I took home $291 on the night.

Moving all the house furniture out of the living room and hauling in the tables wasn't an easy job, but thankfully my cousin was in town to help with the heavy tables.

I also ended up cutting all 3 tables legs down about an 1" - 1.25" - this made a big difference and the players thought the table height played better from the previous poker night - all 3 tables are roughly 31" tall now at the top of the rail.

How did you cut those gorilla legs. I’m thinking of cutting mine a bit as well.

I just used a metal blade in a hack saw, put blue tape around, used a square to measure the 1.5" I wanted cut off, then started cutting - I tried using a jig saw - but the blade wasn't long enough. Before you start cutting, pop off the plastic caps at the bottom.

Good luck!

It's been 16 months since I last hosted Poker Night at my house, Covid and I've just been busy lately - we finally hosted a 1 table cash game! We played $1/$1 nine handed to start out the night and ended the night 5 handed.

I documented a behind the scenes video of me hosting the cash game from start up to tare down.

Our regular 3 or 4 table tournaments will start back up in July, and I will make a video sharing how I host our regular tournament poker night! I'll share my starting stacks size, blind levels & times with a few of our local rules.

Hope you enjoy the video!!

That is an awesome table. And the video was great. If you ever need another player let me know, I'm not too far away.

@Lancew09 this is just incredible, envious of your skills and tools! I have taken a lot of inspiration and ideas (as well as advice from @bsdunbar1 too) towards my current build with a similar design too. Really well done!

Also love the semi-customized Royals - great video, was nice to see them in action :)

Thanks @chkyrslf Good luck on your build!!!

We had our first tournament since the world shut down in March of 2020!

Everyone was excited to play again, we picked a few new players who were sponsored by a current player. We had a 3 table 24 seat tourney, with 8 rebuys and 19 add-ons - first place took home $1,010 & 6th place took home $170. Luckly I won the $540 from the cash game a few weeks prior because I gave it all back!!! Lost $460 on the night, 3 bad beats on the cash game!

We'll be back in Sept for another Poker Night!

I just found this thread and it was a blast to read through. Well done, sir!
I hope to get to see some pictures of your events going forward!

I installed a 2nd AC unit in my garage - when I built my house and installed the Mini Split AC unit, I wasn't planning on hosting Poker Night with 25+ players & hot pizza. Texas has some hot summer months, and this budget friendly portable AC works perfectly to help cool down my garage for poker nights!

Hope you enjoy the video!

Great job!

Have you also considered an insulated garage door? We changed ours out a few years ago and it's easily 8-10 degrees cooler with just the mini split.

Yes, mine are insulated as well. Body heat is the killer, it will be 72 degrees and as soon as poker starts with 25 players, it will warm up to 80* in the garage and it gets sticky - this unit really helps now!

Awesome job with the two tables! Really impressive. But what’s more impressive is how clean your garage is…. You would be appalled at mine. Hahaha.

Good job - In the summer months I use portable like that to help cool our living room because the central air just can't compete with a full room of players.

The tough part is carrying it to and from the outbuilding where it keeps my workshop cool - those things just are not light!

No, you're correct - they are not light at all. Body heat is crazy, makes you wonder what the electric bill is for some of those Vegas Casinos!
