I own a huge set of Chipcos and noticed that BRPro has some pretty reasonable pricing for custom ceramics that are (probably) within my skill to design. I'm thinking about adding some previously unavailable denominations to my set and maybe making some custom bomb-pot tokens.

I know a lot of you have experience with both, and I even saw a mixed set exchange hands in the classifieds. How do BRPro's ceramics compare to Chipco's? I'm talking weight, texture, appearance, stack height, rack fit, and anything else that seems noteworthy to you. No detail is too small.

Please and thank you.

I have a mixed set of ceramics that are almost all Chipco except for the $1’s that are BRPro chips. There is a very noticeable texture difference between them. The Chipco’s are new and so they almost have a sandpaper texture to them. Very gritty/grippy. The BRPro have much finer texture. They all play fine together.

I too have a large set of Chipco chips and I also have 40 seating chips from Gene at ABC which is the owner of BRPro. As far as feel I like the BRPro chips just as much. I can send you a couple if you pm me you address.
Thank you for the offer, but I actually just ordered a sample set.

I'm still interested in hearing about things I won't be able to learn from just a few chips. Like do they stack squarely with Chipcos? Do they wear down to a similar feel?

I remember back when the Chipcos I now own were new (came to use in the casino).

They do not have anywhere near that gritty-grippy feel anymore, but they're not worn totally smooth either.

I think the "sandpaper" feel of both is quite similar, and agree the chipco are slightly "grittier".
Then there is the rolling edge. Chipcos are a smooth, but matte surface, while the BRPros are also smooth but glossy.

The Chipco edge is slightly more rounded, almost a small chamfer edge. The BRPros are sharper.

I have a large set of Tiki Kings from BR Pro, and I like them, as well as DDLM's, and, I may just be jaded, but, I think Chipco's are where it starts and ends for ceramics. I'm in the process of picking up a set of Chipco's that I plan on having fracs made by BR on Chipco blanks.

As previously mentioned the Chipco's have a finer "grit" to the face. I thought their color printing was deep and rich.

I don't expect that the BR chips printed on Chipco blanks will feel exactly like the original, but, I think it'll be close enough. Gene at BR does a good job, and they have great customer service.

This is an option? Is there extra cost?

Not sure if there are any updates, but this is the last one I've seen:

To answer a couple questions we were tagged in here:

All chips are printed on our ABC (regular) blanks unless Chipco blanks are requested (all Tiki chips are on ABC, not Chipco). The one exception to that is the Nevada Jacks Skulls, Saloon Series and Desert Sands, which are printed on a third, textured blank.

Chipco chips are in very low supply and will be discontinued once we run out, so keep in mind you will not be able to add on to your set later. First come first serve, and you can email us at chip@brpropoker.com to request an order on Chipco blanks. Pricing is 20 cents per chip above standard 39mm pricing.

I have some pics of those WC $2’s!

Can someone post a picture of a barrel of BrPro standard ceramics next to a barrel of chipco ceramics/ blanks printed by BrPro?

Maybe @Colquhoun you have both?
