Bond Creative Rights Sold to Amazon (1 Viewer)

I don’t think this is a good thing.

Barbara Broccoli was extremely protective of the Bond brand and never oversaturated it. My fear is here comes a huge Bond universe that won’t be executed well for multiple reasons.

Hope I’m wrong!
Completely agreed. I don't like oversaturation, that's the perfect word. These huge companies buying up franchises is generally a bad thing.

Holy crap, now we can pay Amazon for the right to use James Bond images, likeness, and themes on chips! Right?!

Let's see if they can avoid going full Disney/Eric Cartman with it:

I have Casino Royale & Skyfall to rewatch, that’s my favorites.

This’ll be massacred just like LOTR/ Wheel of Time so it becomes ‘content’ vs story telling.

One glimmer of hope would be if they gave it to someone like Christopher Nolan. He’s always wanted to do a period type Bond in the Fleming era. Give it to Nolan with a big budget…

The two Amazon-backed “Rings of Power” seasons have been a disaster. Terrible plotting, ridiculous acting, and rampant disregard for the Tolkien canon… LoTR fans hate it.

And all that after they spent a billion (somehow) on just the first season.
This was my first thought. RoP turned Galadriel into an moronic psycho.

I don't know where all the good writers went but apparently they've all left Hollywood.

This change is a bit scary. Seriously though, Bond films have always been pretty mainstream films. Maybe this change isn't even a bad thing. Sales of licensed products will probably increase (chips, watches etc.)

Looks like new directors announced and have started work (it aint Nolan):

I did see something on Amazon Prime that I thought was outstanding and does give hope to them not killing everything if they have the right production team and stay in theme.

There was a short series based on different games called Secret Level I seen recently. And I’m not a Warhammer fan or know much about that universe except for seeing a Youtube fan made Astartes vid, but the "Secret Level" Warhammer 40,000 episode 5, titled "And They Shall Know No Fear," is outstanding. Worth a watch if you’ve not seen it and are into that type of thing:

Ok, I will patiently wait and see this with an open mind when it’s released. Not Nolan, but Villeneuve has made some stunning films in the past decade. I think for mass market cinema/ large budget blockbusters, he does great stuff.

Sicario, Bladerunner, Dune II… rewatched Arrival recently as well.

DV is one of my favourite directors. I'm not sure that the fan base is ready for a thinking man's Bond, since he's more extreme on the intellectual and emotional ends. Think Incendies, Enemy, Prisoners.
I like a fun and quizzical Bond but I prefer the more serious and intellectual aspects of his character. I'm ready.

We will need to wait. Dune 3 first.

I hope we get a really decent writer. I don't even know which actor to back anymore. They've been delaying so long that all the original good choices are aging out.
