I know some of you are dabblers in other games. Have any partaken of Secret Hitler before? I played this on a vacation recently and fell in absolute love with it. Also I can’t help but feel that poker skills translate directly to this game. The abilities to lie without hesitation, read other players, and to put together a puzzle with only partial information are critical to winning. Just curious if anyone else out there has experience with this one?

Fantastic game. I bring it every year to the coast when I get away with my friends for the new year and everyone enjoys the hell out of it, even the folks I would call "non-boardgamers".

We used to play The Resistance which was also loved, but the theme of this one and also the sightly different mechanics seem to be universally preferred.

I also tried out the "one night" games, but they didn't land as hard as either Resistance or SH.

This game is great. It actually started off as a kickstarter game. If you like this try this one:

I much prefer regular Werewolf/Mafia to the one night variant but they are both good. I've wanted to give the Resistance and Secret Hitler both a try.

Mechanically, the game is sound, and I agree that the soft/psychological skills of poker absolutely apply along with some deductive reasoning. The only knock I’ve heard from folks is the reference to Hitler - they’re uncomfortable with such a reference. But yes, that’s a good social deduction game. Glad you liked it!

For online, Throne of Lies is a bit newer, and "cleaner" than Town of Salem. Would recommend you check it out.

Another Mafia/Werewolf game.
Can very much recommend the online version (although there are times where you get the impression someone dumped the contents of a random insane asylum into the game).

Real life version: http://www.blankmediagames.com/Store/ (Kickstarter page with more detail info)
Online game (free with purchaseable cosmetics): http://blankmediagames.com/TownOfSalem/, also has optional Steam client.

I have seen ToL and wasn't too fond of the overall presentation back when I checked it out. The simple 2D comic style just fits the macabre humor better imo.
But seeing that it's currently at 30% off, I guess I'll pick it up and give it a closer second look, maybe the roles are a bit more varied and/or balanced.

I have the Secret Trump expansion... If that makes folks more comfortable :p:whistle: :whistling:
