Ok this thread is way way way off topic of anyone interested in Poker, Casino Games, Betting, Gambling... u know... all the things you love.

You know what else you love? "Poker Chips"

Know what I hate? I have people in my life that aren't really into Texas Holdem but like other games like Exploding Kittens, Bohnanza, King of Tokyo, Catan etc. And any day the chips make it on the table is a good day in my book. Most games come with terrible plastic or paper junk for game pieces. I'm looking for games you can step up the experience and make it unique...

So... Are there any board gamers out there that love a good evening with friends and play games where you substitute or swap out game pieces with your poker chips? Even NCV value chips as game pieces or ways of counting either cash, points, resources, victory points, etc. Please post your favorite game where you've basically swapped out elements of the game with Poker chips. Photos encouraged. Don't say poker, No PLO, etc.

Examples I've thought of.
- Splendor (has plastic chips already) upgrade them with nice NCV
- Monopoly (paper cash for actual chips)
- Bohnanza
- Acquire
- Basically any other cash type game

I've searched the internet for for ideas and keep hitting @Hobbyphilic & @Chris Manzoni results :p (ps many thanks to the efforts of HobbyP and ChrisM, you've stepped up my chip game more than prolly anyone, pre PCF)

My friends and I started using my paulson home set for monopoly out the gate. I never bought 1s though, so we used paper ones. It was a bit tricky without 20s to start, but we made it work. Next time I play with my nieces it will be with chips and now I have 1s, HSI secs. I can't wait to show them. It's so easy to use chips over paper. I'm interested a set of monopoly chips though.

Would love to see live chip stack photos next time you play. My plan is to take the best ideas in this thread and test and take photos.
Pretty close to the distribution in the game instructions, substituting for the 10s and 20s. A rack with a barrel of each denom = the bank.

Did you do a search? I'm pretty sure there is another thread where this was discussed. I remember it from a year or so ago.

I use them fundamentally for Heroclix. Most of you won't be players but it's a highly dynamic game and I play it exclusively solo.

Chips are placed under a miniature to indicate it's been activated. I use 6 diffferent colors, one color per turn, max 2 chips (activations) per mini, and the iron core comes into oplay. The minis all have a 50mm magnetic disc applied to their base and so I can handle them more efficiently.

I'm using Slowplay clay, blank chips.

I’ll never play Monopoly with the included paper money again. So much better with chips (as long as you have a big enough cash set).
Brilliant. So simple and I never would have thought of it. Have you seen the gold and silver based hotels and houses that were made for monopoly? I love a good pimped out game. Probably why I am here lol

Thread 'CHIPS* GROUP BUY*: New Greek Mold * Cards Mold * Textured No-Mold * 01/2024' https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...d-cards-mold-textured-no-mold-01-2024.113140/
I like the idea of using chips for Monopoly, but I wonder why whoever designed this set didn't try to get closer to the actual Monopoly money colors? The $1 should be white and the $500 should be orange. And also, as much as I dislike $50 poker chips, I think I would want a $50 Monopoly chip. I do agree with skipping the $10.

I usually give chips out as point markers in munchkin if that counts...but thats only 10 per Player and no values needed

Board gaming has long been one of the primary uses of this set.

Any game that uses counters/tokens/currency is worth whipping out the chips.

One of the more recent times was a session of Merchant of Venus with the fam over the Christmas holidays.
