LOL So look's like im on the ignore list for someone who is good at this stuff cuz i haven't heard a response so looking to see if anyone has a good structure i can use for an upcoming event ill be hosting. Here is what i got.

20 players
Starting Stacks - 20K with a reload chip - 10/4/7/2/Reload

Chip Set:
200 x T100
100 x T500
200 x T1000
70 x T5000
20 x T20000

reload chip is worth 10K and can be used at anytime to add on to a stack within the first 4 rounds or at the very end of the 4th round. But worth half the initial starting stack. So accentially everyone has 30K in chips.

I want the tourney to last somewhere around 5-6 hours. So here is what i have so far.

20 Min - level 1 - 100/100
20 Min - level 2 - 100/100 BBA - 100
20 Min - level 3 - 100/200 BBA - 200
20 Min - level 4 - 200/300 BBA - 300

10 min Break

15 Min - level 5 - 200/400 BBA - 400
15 Min - level 6 - 300/600 BBA - 600
15 Min - level 7 - 400/800 BBA - 800
15 Min - level 8 - 600/1200 BBA - 1200

10 min break - Chip up the T100

15 Min - level 9 - 1000/1500 BBA - 1500
15 Min - level 10 - 1000/2000 BBA - 2000
15 Min - level 11 - 1500/3000 BBA - 3000
15 Min - level 12 - 2000/4000 BBA - 4000

10 min break - Chip up the T500

15 Min - level 13 - 3000/6000 BBA - 6000
15 Min - level 14 - 4000/8000 BBA - 8000
15 Min - level 15 - 5000/10000 BBA - 10000
15 Min - level 16 - 6000/12000 BBA - 12000

10 min break - Chip up the T1000

15 Min - level 17 - 10000/15000 BBA - 15000 (Estimated End time)
15 Min - level 18 - 10000/20000 BBA - 20000
15 Min - level 19 - 15000/30000 BBA - 30000
15 Min - level 20 - 20000/40000 BBA - 40000

What you guys think? calling any tourney directors for assistance or how i can improve this. Thank you guys!

If everyone adds on, your tournament shall end at level where 15,000 - 30,000 (without ante).
With big blind ante, I'd assume - but I can be wrong - that this assumption can be divided by 1.5, so the tournament would end around level 10,000 - 20,000.
So I think your tournament would end around level 18 which means 5:15 - 5:30 (incl. breaks).
But I would let people more experienced in BBA comment.

I think the effect of the BBA here is negligible. It may end 1 or 2 levels sooner than without. To make it feel a little smoother, I'd do 600/1200 instead of 500/1000. And since the T500 chip will still be in play, do 1500/3000 instead of 2000/3000. Other than that, it looks pretty good for getting over in your timeframe.

So that's what I thought, level 10,000 - 20,000 instead of 15,000 - 30,000.

The BBA will effect the length.... You've increased the per orbit cost by 60%. How's that NOT going to effect things?

As is.... 20 players @ 30k = 600k in play.

600k / 20 = 30k (5% of chips in play)

30k per orbit is level 16 (end of tourney within a level one way or the other)

yea that's roughly what im thinking too as far as end time. somewhere around level 16 through 18 which is what im looking for. or i would remove the BBA and make the level's a bit shorter

If it gets as far as level 18 you have two real tight*sses playing heads-up. :D

15-17 is more realistic.

It is obvious from the pictures that you run a good home game attended by loyal players.

Based upon your chip-set, I think a BBA would make things a little messy if you were to start the tournament with 100/200 blinds, which IMO is better than starting at 100/100

I also am not a fan of decreasing the duration of the blinds as the tournament progresses. Yes, you get to see more hands as the field thins, but at that point, pressure is being placed on the stacks, which weighs heavily on the patience factor. Simply put, crunching the length of the blinds in the later levels takes away from the skill of the game. Outside of home games, where else do you find that kind of blind schedule?

100/200 -- 30 minutes
100/300 (200/300 is a 67% increase)
200/400
300/600
(15 Minute Break)
400/800
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000

1500/3000
2000/4000
2500/5000
3000/6000
(10 Minute Break) Remove T500's
4000/8000
6000/12000
8000/16000
10000/20000 -- 30 minutes Level 16
15000/30000 -- 30 minutes

The above structure with 600,000 chips in play will likely end at the 10000/20000 level. Due to the gradual progression, players will likely find a spot to get their chips in or agree to a chop ahead of level 17.

Elapse time by the end of level 16 is six hours and 15 minutes.

yea that's too long. im looking to finish closer to 5 hours than 6. let alone over 6. but i see what you mean about consistent blind levels. maybe ill remove the BBA and make all level's 15 minutes. i think that could work. the structure i originally had was from one of our local casino's that run's a big tournament every friday night so kinda emulated from that. but that tourney supports over 300 people every friday and the blind level's are 30 min each for the first 5 rounds and 25 min each every level after that. it typically takes a very long time to finish haha. i want my guys to want to play cash games after lol. id like to start at 2 and finish no later than 8 so we can have 2 cash games going for the rest of the night.

I think something like this could work???

BLIND STRUCTURE:

15 Min - level 1 - 100/200
15 Min - level 2 - 100/300
15 Min - level 3 - 200/400
15 Min - level 4 - 300/600

10 min Break

15 Min - level 5 - 400/800
15 Min - level 6 - 500/1000
15 Min - level 7 - 600/1200
15 Min - level 8 - 800/1600

10 min break - Chip up the T100

15 Min - level 9 - 1000/2000
15 Min - level 10 - 1000/2500
15 Min - level 11 - 1500/3000
15 Min - level 12 - 2000/4000

10 min break - Chip up the T500

15 Min - level 13 - 3000/6000
15 Min - level 14 - 4000/8000
15 Min - level 15 - 6000/12000
15 Min - level 16 - 8000/16000

10 min break - Chip up the T1000

15 Min - level 17 - 10000/20000
15 Min - level 18 - 15000/25000
15 Min - level 19 - 15000/30000
15 Min - level 20 - 20000/40000

each level big blind is spaced out pretty evenly and increases over time. but i agree. maybe start with a 100/200 instead of 100/100

Personally, I'm not a fan of 15 minute levels if the players are doing the shuffling & dealing, and only a single deck is used per table. (if you're using 2 decks per table ignore this post :D )
Without doing all the calculations, how might 20 minute levels work for you & removing levels 2, 6, 10, & 18?

That's what I'd do if it still fits your time limit.

we will have Dealer's for each table and we use 2 decks per table. little blind shuffles while dealer is dealing. and i should of changed this at the begining, its not 20 players. Its 18 with 2 dealers. so only 18 players.
