Hello friends, I need some advice...I'm hosting an 8 man Tourny this Friday $45 buy in (inc $5 bounty) with one rebuy up until the first hour (4th level). I'm planning to use the Santa Ysabel cash set I bought (1000 chips, 300 $1, 600 $5, 100 $25).

Payout: 1st place 60% 2nd place 30% 3rd place 10%

Tourney time approx 4 hours, 15 minute blind increases. 6pm-10pm

Starting stack $300 + on time arrival bonus $38 + having exact change $15. Grand total: $353

Chip breakdown per person without bonuses: (15) $1 (32) $5 (5) $25 Grand Total: 52 chips

Blind schedule:
Level 1: $1/$2 6:00 pm
Level 2: $2/$4 6:15 pm
Level 3: $5/$10 6:30 pm
Level 4: $10/$20 6:45 pm

Break (last Rebuy opportunity) 7:00-7:15 pm

Level 5: $15/$30 7:15 pm
Level 6: $25/$50 7:30 pm
Level 7: $50/$100 7:45 pm
Level 8: $75/$150 8:00 pm

Break (Color up smaller chips) 8:00:8:15 pm

Level 9: $100/$200 8:30 pm
Level 10: $200/$400 8:45 pm
Level 11: $300/$600 9:00 pm
Level 12: $500/$1000 9:15-10:00 pm END

Is this realistic? What changes would you make to the blind schedule or total chip amount? Or no changes this will work perfect?

First time hosting, and yes I've watched videos and read articles as well and this is what I came up with.

I plan on sending into to my group tonight at any input ASAP is greatly appreciated!!

Best,

Jason

Just a few thoughts/questions.

1) Is this going to be dealer dealt? If not, 15 mins per level is quite a short time and I doubt you will even get one orbit in that time.
2) As a general rule, you want to keep the blind increases more or less equal as a percentage. From L2 to L3, the blinds go up by 2.5x but then only 2x before only 1.5x between L4 and L5.
3) Also I think your tournament is likely to finish somewhere around L9 - L11. The general formula that I use is that a small single table tournament with a "normal" amount of rebuys, etc will probably end when the big blind is around the initial starting stack. What I would suggest in this case is to add in a few more gradual levels at the start such as a 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 6/12, 8/16 which would give you that additional hour of play to get closer to your finishing time.

However, it's never an exact science and I would recommend waiting for some of the more experienced heads to reply here.

Yeah, i think I'll introduce smaller blinds in the beginning...i was worried about ending too early with the larger blinds... So THANK YOU!

Should i increase the levels to 20 min? 25 minutes? Thanks again for your insight brother!

Use the search function. Search for T1 or T100 structure. Use the 5% rule to estimate the last blind level. I would recommand 20 minute blind levels.
