I recently shipped some chips…the “is there anything fragile” question came up. I said yes, but does it add cost? Postlady said no it just lets us know we need to handle it carefully.

She took my package…and literally flip tossed it into an empty bin. Then she turned to look at me…and smirked. Maybe it’s just my post office, but almost every person there acts like a huge asshole…no matter how polite I am.
You didn’t say shit to her? I would have at least said “I just told you that package is fragile.”

I should have, but have seen this person be a jerk when called out…and the room was packed with holiday shippers. Didn’t want to cause a scene…just left a very honest review. Can postal workers not be fired?….are they untouchable?

It’s amazing the care they take with cremains. It’s like they don’t want THAT package breaking open and spilling anything.

Also picked up a nice lake to put the Majestic Star out on.

They are untouchable, so I posted a racist Asian postal worker’s face on Yelp who refused to print a receipt for shipping confirmation, although she printed for a white woman before me! Also she complained to me that she didn’t get salary raise although customers are paying holiday surcharge!

For packing, I pack chips very well as everyone here knows because I know they don’t give a damn fuck about anyone’s chips here.

Best thing to do is take pics or record their action just like I take pics of my chips!

One box of 6 racks arrived today, another box is still in Los Angeles

Here's a pic so far before the ultrasonic. These chips are Dirty! I will second what was written earlier the 25 and 100 value chips are perceptively heavier than the 500 and 1000 chips even though they are more worn. Anyone unhappy with theirs due to wear, I will take them.

Close up of what remains of the people of Gary on the chips. Wondering how many people I have been to the bathroom with after unboxing the chips....I washed my hands after taking them out of the box and back again. There is noticeably less smell than the low limit set I bought in the last sale however, possibly these had time to air out in John's garage.

That scuffed shipping label is the stuff of nightmares
Luckily the From and To addresses were not affected. The invoice was in the box I already go so I would have been screwed if they were.

When I ship I usually put a strip of packing tape across the "To" address. Mostly because I don't trust the quality of my printer. I've occasionally smudged labels myself just putting them on the package.

Oh I always cover the entire shipping label with clear packing tape. But I understand when you're shipping hundreds or thousands of packages like TCR, that's not really doable.

I thought I saw somewhere that your aren't supposed to put tape over the bar code. Something about it can mess up their scanner.

It certainly does cause problems in Canada. Definitely depends on the depot the parcel is transiting through and the state of the scanning equipment. All factors play in.

I always tape around the bar code, leaving the bar code part exposed. However, it does leave it unprotected and then it can get damaged and then won’t scan either.

Chipments are hard! Lol!

I do it all the time for Amazon returns which is usually pre-paid labels for UPS and never had an issue with them scanning it. Those I have to print on 8.5 x 11 paper on a LaserJet. I think the scanning equipment has gotten better in general though. I occasionally do it with USPS labels but it's not intentional. I'm using a thermal label printer for USPS and UPS labels for packages I ship, so I think there is much less chance of the info on the label getting scrapped off vs an inkjet printed label.

Yes, I tape all the corners, and sometimes all the edges just so the entire label can't be pulled off. (easily)

I have been told the same by the norwegian postal workers. I do the same. Tape everything on the label except the barcode. I did get a package returned at one point which apparently was because the barcode was not readable because I had taped over it.

Amen to this. I just got a thermal label printer three days ago. And I'm never going back.

Of course, you need to be shipping chips enough to make the cost worth it, but damn does it make things easier. And it saves time.

I tried using my cheap inkjet printer with the not-cheap ink. It's a hassle: Trimming or folding the paper to just the actual label part. Taping over the label, but not the barcode... and if a single drop of rain touched it, it smeared beyond recognition. I had to go back to handwriting addresses directly on the box.

Then I got the thermal label printer... it's like learning how to count 100 chips by the barrel instead of individually. It's that much easier.

Is there any chance you might find more of the San Juan Intercontinental $500s?

Question....

Background. Jumer's is my first Paulson set. I'm happy with them. I am confused though.

For the serious chippers out there collecting newer casino sets, why do you think Jumer's didn't sell out in minutes? Is it the look? The casino name? That there were too many recent sales (IG, Sierra Dunes, etc)? The higher cost compared to other recent sales?

Like I said, I like my chips and don't intend to sell them any time soon, or at all, but I think it's surprising that these didn't sell out quickly and immediately increase in value (other than snappers).

Thoughts?

i'm guessing people didn't really like the 1s and 5s.

No oversized high denoms ($5k and $25k) made me decide I won’t go with Jumer’s. Also the sale between Elsinore/Sahara Dunes and Jumer’s was close apart, which I assume people weren’t ready speaking financially.

Lastly, Indiana Grand was way too good. They went so quick and many people couldn’t buy from Jim, but rather from flippers. I bought a good amount from flippers since I couldn’t get what I wanted from classified.

The most coveted chips did sell out in minutes. I couldn’t get any 2.50s literally one minute after they became available.

There’s more 1s 5s and 25s than you probably think.
10s of thousands of 1s and 5s etc. similar sales had 40-50k $1 chips!

When I built my HSI set, I got the good stuff early first minute. then a couple months later, Jim made the 1s discounted because there were still so many left. I bought an additional 1000 $1 chips for like .60c each. But the rest of my set, sec. 5s sec. 25s, pri100s 500s all sold out within minutes. Glad I nabbed them.

You never really know how many of each there are, so you kinda got to do all the main parts of the set first day, or else you will miss out.

do you have any HSI 1a’s you want to get rid of?

There was nothing special about them.
They were just another RHC set, which is great for people who want or need a set, but it wasn’t a must-have.

The prices on this set ticked up a bit higher than previous chiproom releases, so these ones were closer to market prices and less of a bargain.

The chipping market has taken a big dive in the last 6-9-12 months, so a lot of people who bought chips in the last year or two are actually upside-down and might be less likely to buy an extra set.

He just had a sale not too long ago.

And finally, this is a time of the year where people have less cash to burn.

All that said, last time I checked, there aren’t that many secondary chips left. Of course we have no idea of his actual quantities vis-a-vis how many he listed on PayPal, but all in all, I’m impressed with how well the Jumers sold.

I think you are seeing the effect of prioritizing necessary goods over luxury goods. People are still buying luxury, but not as recklessly as they once did. Where infinite sets weren’t enough a few years back, now people are finding they can do with one or two sets and budget their money on other limited luxury’s or even necessities if it comes to that.
