@WedgeRock :

Eric, I'm not quite sure I said/posted this before so my apologies if I'm repeating myself: Thank you for being a BUILDER in this community. Thank you for your effort in actually adding something to our PCF's daily perusing. I know it takes a lot of work to run this thing but at least on my end, it is very much appreciated.

At a time when more and more posts are about negativity, complaining, destruction, etc, you consistently choose the opposite route. So again, thank you, my friend...

Thanks for the comments, @ChaosRock.

I could not be more confused, but I really appreciate the matchups and the voting too @WedgeRock

So, its probably at least a symptom of me not fully deciding a direction before I started this thing, but you are not the only one that is confused.

Last year, when @bsdunbar1 ran a similar vote, I got to see alot of chipsets that were created in 2019 that I hadn't seen. I liked hearing about the design process and how/why decisions were made by the creators. The intention for this whole endeavor was driven by giving exposure to chipsets that were created in 2020 and perhaps, giving inspiration to future sets.

TLDR warning about how we got to where we are and what is left to do:

For 2020, everything was a bit in flux because I didn't know how many sets we'd have entered. I knew I wanted to do a main bracket with all the chipsets competing against one another, but I also didn't want the final 16 chipsets be custom CPCs, so I created four classes. There was some griping about how I chose to group chipsets into four classes, but we rolled with fully custom (CPCs, Matsuis, etc.), relabels, ceramic/hybrid, and hot-stamp/open.

We got 79 entries for chipsets that were made in 2020. One was a group buy, which I had pre-determined would only be part of the full bracket. The other 78 entries were randomly seeded into the four classes. After the four brackets were set, we got a late entry bringing the total chipsets in the main bracket to 80.

We did voting on the classes one at a time and each of the winners got a #1 seed in a region of the main bracket (and I named the main bracket region after that chipset). So if you couldn't guess, the four class winners were @gopherblue's Vesper Club (hot stamp/open), @Hornet's Carnevale (relabel), @madforpancakes' Rainier Room (fully custom) and @markleteenie's Coyote Gulch (ceramic/hybrid).

After the class voting was complete, I randomly seeded the main bracket (with only the class winners being pre-determined). With 80 entries, we needed to have 16 playin games to get down to 64 chipsets. So I ran those first. Once we were down to 64 sets, I began doing the first two rounds of a region every week (Round 1 on Sunday - 8 votes and Round 2 on Wednesday - 4 votes). We have completed 3 regions so far with only the Coyote Gulch region left to play out. Polls are open on the first 8 matchups now. On Wednesday, the eight winners will face off to leave the Coyote Gulch region with only 4 survivors and the Sweet Sixteen will be set.

We've taken 80 entries down to 28, and by Saturday, we'll be down to just 16 chipsets remaining. I'm on vacation starting Saturday, so the voting is taking a hiatus. When voting resumes on July 25, we'll run the Sweet Sixteen all together, so the third round in each Region will go to vote on Sunday. The following Wednesday (July 28), the voting for the final 8 chipsets will go live, leaving us with a winner of each region who will advance to the Final Four. Final Four voting starts on August 1 and on August 4, the final two chipsets will go head-to-head with the winner being crowned PCF's Best Custom Chipset of 2020.

Congrats to @Psypher1000, @Josh Kifer and @raynmanas for advancing to the Sweet 16! There is still one match-up to be worked out: Coyote Gulch v Av8tion Poker cash. We'll run a two-day runoff vote. If that doesn't break the tie, a RNG will decide who advances.

Here's what the Coyote Gulch Region looks like now:

Currently, the Round 2 run-off in the Coyote Gulch region is the only active vote:
