Hi all,
I am a serial lurker who has been in and out of the poker chipping scene constantly over the last few years (mainly due to working in the UK and then having to fly back and forth to Australia.. and now being "stuck" in Australia due to international borders being closed).

Here's my situation.. any input/thoughts/comments welcome:
- I currently have 3 poker chip sets:
1) A "home cash" set - 500 chip set of Port Royals Ceramics (acquired locally in Australia from Jackspoker)
2) A "home tournament" set - 600 chip set of Majestics CC's (bought these from Apache when I was living in London) - just sold these to a friend
3) A "travel/road trip" set - 300 chip set of Tiki King Ceramics (my pride and joy that I had shipped from the US).

Having just sold my Majestics... I will also be selling my Port Royals.. visually they are beautiful chips, but the feel compared to the Tiki Kings.. there's just no point keeping them. My travel set just ends up being the ones everyone likes playing with more even at home. So this brings me to my situation.... I am now on the market for a new "home" set (tournament or cash.. maybe both...).

After doing my usual lurking research and being mindful of the shipping costs to Australia, I am leaning towards getting the Prestige (but in 39mm) set from Sun-Fly. When I convert the costs into Australian dollars, it's roughly ~$600 AUD shipped for 500 chips, which isn't too bad since 500 custom ceramic chips here in Australia is also around $600 AUD. I have my samples of the Prestige, but they are in 43mm. So I was hoping there are some folks here who have the same chip in both 43mm and 39mm that can offer some input on the differences (aside from the chip sizes) between the two.

Also, having seen the colours available... I really dislike green chips, so I'm thinking of getting the White NCV Prestige chip printed for my $25 chip. Thoughts on a White $25 chip? (And anyone have a pic of how a barrel of White Prestige looks stacked up next to the Black Prestige on the felt?)

Congrats on progressing from lurker to poster on PCF. Whereabouts in Australia are you stuck?

100% understand about the port royals. They cant compete with the tiki kings in terms of feel.

Sunfly 43mm hybrid ceramics are nice and I would definitely consider them over the 39mm equivalent. If you are after prestige chips I dare sare you could pick up a set of those from someone on the forum as they started as a PCF group buy before being made available on Sunflys website. What breakdown are you looking for?

Many members got their sets customized but essentially they all use the same chips colours that were made available during the group buy.

For that kind of price point, there are better options in my opinion if you arent in a rush for a new set.

There is currently an Australian Group buy-in progress for ceramics on the cards mold on 39mm. There is a 43mm mold being made available later this month.

It initially started off as a buy for the Arias design but has progressed to any design available on the cards mold.

More info on the cards mold can be found here.

Hi @davislane , I am in Melbourne and thanks for the links. I have been looking through those already haha  :ROFLMAO:
I was looking at the Prestige because I was quite keen on the PolyInno chips - I have a lot of samples from all over the place.. including CPC's and other ABC/BR ceramics, but honestly.. if I was going to go pure Ceramics I'd just order additional Tiki Kings... and CPC are a little out of my budget (at least for now). I'm not a huge fan of trying to mimic casino chips (unless it's like from a movie, e.g. Rounders or James Bond, so I've stayed out of the cards mold options.

One idea that I still have in my mind is copying the Tiki King edges and using my own design on the chip face... but I'm not sure I could commit such a heinous act hahaha

@allforcharity I KNOW RIGHT... the 43MM ARE AMAZING... but I don't have a good storage method for the 43mm atm :/

Do you have any Bud Jones chips? They are also an economical option and can be found in the same price range of Sunfly polyinno chips.

With regards to the storage of 43mm chips, you should be able to get 43mm racks from sunfly with your order if you go directly with them. Alternatively, Apache poker chips have 43mm chip racks available. Postage might be a bit of a killer. We may have to start an Aussie Group buy for them also.

I confess I don't know much about Bud Jones chips.

I may have to take @allforcharity advice and just be patient for the next group buy.

Matsuis are really nice chips. Matsuis are probably one of my favorite chips. They are durable and won't fade over time. There are some on eBay right now but I don't know of the seller will ship international.

Patience in this hobby is always good advice.

Bud Jones is what all our casinos used to have if you have ever played poker or gambled at an Aussie Casino.

These days they have something similar bit with a lot less "character". At one stage current chips were made by a mixture of companies matsui / bud jones / dolphin. At the moment they all seem to be made dolphin.

I've only been to Jupiters up in Brisbane and Crown in Melbourne. I didn't realise those were bud jones!!! (I only went with the Port Royals because they reminded me of the Crown chips.

In case some newer chippers don't know, GPI owns both Bud Jones and Dolphin brands (as well as Paulson, BCC, B&G, Gemaco, and probably others).
Dolphin originally sold to Elixir gaming. Elixir then they changed their name to Entertainment Gaming and then sold Dolphin to GPI if my memory serves me correct.

The original owners of Dolphin in Australia have relaunched back into the market as Waterdale gaming. Im guessing their non compete has lapsed.

Yeah I originally bought a sample thinking the same thing but opted against any of jacks offerings once I feel deeper into the void that is PCF. Run while you can. Its not too late!

If you want to check out some Bud Jones I have some samples I can lend you if you dont mind paying shipping both ways.

I'll drop you a PM when I've done a bit more research! Thanks for the offer!

hey @EpicAS what did you end up going with? Very intrigued with fellow Aussie chippers who went through what I'm going through now :)
Ummm so I kind of went with….
- a set of Royals (43mm chips from Apache poker)
- a set of Paulsons… mix of Jack Cinci and HS cinci.
- a set of cards mold Arias

Hahaha yep I’m screwed… was looking at one set, but bought 3…
