You say that... but talk to him and I think you'll quickly see he's doesn't seem to care about cash on the spot type of seller :D
This guys items on eBay are the biggest comedy tour on the planet

Some of these 90K items made me spit out my beer
The guy is an auction hunter asshat

Just a suggestion but if anyone is serious about trying to negotiate with him maybe take the convo to a private chat for the small group of you local guys. As much as I love reading this and have some interest in a set as well, someone can find this thread really easily and see the plans. At least till the deal is done then share the details on here after.

I think it’d be a lot better if someone just tells me all about their plans here. Especially what they’ll be wearing and approximately when and where they’ll be meeting this dick clown with $16,000 cash. I prefer non-sequential and a mix of $100s and $20s

Since this is already a shit read, I'll tell you my favorite South Gate story. Maybe this will put the 'quality' of the city in perspective.

When I met my ex wife, she told me she lived in Downey. I wasn't familiar with the area. She didn't know I had a co-worker from South Gate. When I showed him where I picked her up (a few blocks away from him) he advised me my ex was a liar. He showed me a map that she was in the middle of South Gate.

I should've dumped her then, would've saved me a lot of money. She was cute back then though, so...

Quick question for you SoCal people. So is Downey a good or not so good area to go to? I know warewulf alludes to South Gate as a not so Great place. We will be going to California for the week. First 3 days in LA. We’ll be going to Disney on Mon. & Tue., but on Sunday night I was going to get my full Karate Kid on with my wife and son and go to Golf N Stuff. It’s listed as being in Norwalk, CA but some people told me that it is in Downey. It’s about 15 minutes from where we are staying in Anaheim.

Both places are pretty rough, but by far not the worst places, Anaheim is pretty gnarly in some parts.

Los Angeles and Orange County are similar in that there are pockets of really bad neighborhoods, I doubt you will end up accidentally going to any of those neighborhoods.

If you want to get really Karate Kids Vibes, come to my neighborhood. :) I lived in Reseda for years, it’s pretty much a bad neighborhood all over. :) :) I even know the skeeviest 1-1 no limit underground game in the world, it’s in reseda.

the apartment complex from the karate kid is still there, still looks the same.

@Johnblue thanks. I love Skeevy games. My wife agreed to Golf n Stuff because my 6YO is into mini golf and also arcades. I don’t think she’d agree to go with me to do an 80s tour just to see locations. I could get her to agree to go the Bike if they have an Arcade or something where one us could be with the kid where the other one gambles.

I don’t think they have that. Commerce casino isn’t that far, and they have a decent hotel... (and a huge outlet mall called “citadel” nearby.

actually I think the bike may have just built a new hotel, I’m not sure if they finished yet. Haven’t been there in a while.

I lived in Downey for a few years, around 20 years ago. I was an EMT back then and we had stations in South Gate and other areas around there. Before that, I was living in Reseda lol.

When I got the job out there, I asked around for decent places to live in the area. Downey and Cerritos were decent areas back then. My first station was in Norwalk. Not a terrible area, but I don't really have anything nice to say about it either.

I grew up in that general area(East Los, Alhambra, Montibello/Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, Whittier) and agree wholeheartedly with this.
