Anyone Use Bovada? (1 Viewer)

Apparently they do not have a rakeback program at all? That is a huge minus if you want to play regularly.

If the HUD trick mentioned above works (IE let's you identify anonymous players) then it is a must-do. Can you enter player notes into the HUD? I've always found notes to be more useful than pure stats.

Players are anonymous on Bovada. HUDs only work for single sessions.

Just signed up and played for an hour or two on Bovada. Bought in to a .25/.50 NL game for 15 bucks (tiny I know lol) and after two hours managed to turn it into a cash out of $133 :D.

For the first hour I was up about 40 bucks sitting right around the 55-60 range. I'm dealer and I get dealt :kd::kc:.

UTG+1 goes all in pre flop for 2.50. I raise it up to 4.50. Small Blind calls. Flop comes :tc::ks::9h:.

I bet 7 dollars and small blind raises it up to 14. At this point I'm assuming either he has a straight or is on a straight draw but I'm not going to let trip kings go so I shove all in for 40 more (54 total). Small Blind calls me and I've got him covered by a buck or two.

Cards are flipped and of course he's got :jh::qc: so he's already made his straight. Turn comes a :8d: which is no help to me. River comes and its a :td: pairing the board giving me a full house vs the other two players straights!

After that I played for another hour and didn't have many remarkable hands. Earlier in my first hour of playing I did have A8 and hit quad 8's and then 7-8 hands later I had A 10 and flopped a set of Aces. Min bet and everyone folded but the rabbit hunting card showed I would have had another Ace for quad aces lol.

All in all an awesome night! Lets just hope the poker run good continues for this weekend and MTTD3!

I'm pretty sure that Bovada employees or "affiliates" play... Had awesome run good, turning my $50 investment into $500... Then had impossible agression from people, when I have amazing starting hands AA or KK... Ppl with hands like 47o would bet big money pre, then hit flops like K58, get it all in with a GS and hit the river 6... Just crap like that way too many times.

What time are you arriving on Friday?

I'm going to try to have plenty of work lined up for my employees and then leave right after lunch. If that works out I'll be to your place by 3:30-4 instead of 6.

Sooner the better.

I vote you give everyone the day off on Friday, and come down Thursday night...

Don't give me that milarky about money, blah blah, lol.

In all seriousness, I had to use $1300 worth of paid time off to host this event... Ha, I'm dumb, I know.

As a small business owner I have to ask.... what is this "paid" time off you speak of? :p

I'm only using three days of vacation. I have 180 hours in my bank so no worries. That's what it is there for. If I'm not going to use it for poker what am I going to use my vacation for.

Me too ^^^^ :D

So, out of curiosity, asking for a friend, to the people who play on Bovada: Theoretically of course, how would you get money on there? Credit cards and paypal are a no go, so if a guy was tired of not being able to play online poker how would he, or she, go about getting funds on the site?

Easy, just use bitcoin. They started accepting that about a week or two ago. If you need a referral let me know.

Edit: I can use my normal visa no problem, there is a high fee though with it. I didn't mention it the first time as you said no credit card. With bitcoin there was no fee when I made the deposit.

Theoretically speaking, since I am not on Bovada, I thought I read somewhere that you could use VISA gift cards.

Thanks guys, I just assumed credit/debit cards wouldn't work, thought that's what I heard.

If it's that easy.... :D

Yeah a credit card works. I used my Visa last night. I think if you use an existing player as a referral that person gets 100 bucks on their account. Anyone that joins I'd split that with them 50/50

It's not illegal to put money ONTO the account... only when you pull it off...

is this true? anyone?...can you use visa gift?

i understand there are two types of Visa Gift cards also ...one you need to verify alot of info, screw that...the second is the normal if there is cash on it its good to go as is....

so will Bovada take either of those....and/or will they take PayPal?

EDIT: i think i answered my own question...looks like you can do the Western Union dance also...i used to do that with Full Tilt and always felt like the drug deals i used to do back in the day....but it worked, maybe try that angle...

hope this helps

Not sure about the visa gift cards. They don't accept paypal. Only bitcoin and credit cards/(possibly visa giftcards?)

I think you can use the Visa gift cards that require you to enter a zip code for verification (like Vanilla Visa). The other types might not work.

But hands down, the best option is via Bitcoin in my opinion

I dont think either are illegal actually, except in Wash state. Its not illegal for us to play, its illegal for them to offer it to Americans

I've been a little out of the loop the past couple years, but from my understanding, the state of online poker in the US is as follows:

Federal: "Legalized" but left up to the individual states

States:
WA: Illegal, in every possible way. As in, go fuck yourself WA. A class C felony to even play. Equivalent to possessing child pornography and sending death threats to the governor... LMFAO
NJ, NV, DE: Fully legal. you can play online today
All other states: Legal to play, but against the law for banks to transfer funds to/from online gambling sites. Players almost certainly will not be punished, only banks

this is how i understand it as well. thats why bovadas deposits show up as random companies.
