Hello from North of Houston! Thanks for all your contributions to all the discussions on this site! TONS of information that has been beneficial!

Me? Well.. I bought a poker table, kestell octagon or something very similar - it was second hand. That guy sold me some poker chips to go with it - suited 11.5g plastic slugged and lighter plastic royal flush chips from a big box store. I think it was $40 for both (500ct each). That was back in 2018 or so.

I’m working on getting the Hold’em game back together after a few years off and figured I’d up the experience. “New chips? Sure….” And down the rabbit hole I go..

I like the simple “modern” chips. First I found the slowplay chips on Amazon. They looked good.. but I don’t love that they’re branded “slowplay” on the face of the chips.

I really liked the golden crown ceramics, so I ordered samples.. buuut they came in chipped and I don’t love the feel/sound of ceramics.

I’d like some china clays, but can’t find any I like. Why are they basically ALL casino branded? There are some outliers like “The Mint” and Apache has Penthouse and Bank, but largely everyone is looking to use casino branded chips based on what’s available.

I’d love to have something clean and simple, denominations with no currency symbol. Those Elite Paulsons (GPI) look nice, but the inlay is quite large..

I’ve realized I’m too picky so just went with the MRC Ying Yangs 😅 I don’t love the 14g weight or the stickers, but in my view it’s better than majestic, Monte Carlo, or other casino branded chips. Yes, I realize I’m probably the crazy one here.

I ordered a 650ct with denominations of 25/100/500/1k/5k/10k in quantities of 150/150/125/125/75/25. The denominations should be easy to work with, even though I don’t like the 2x jumps in the upper range, hopefully the feel of using larger denomination chips in the game is an improvement. It should support a 15 hand game comfortably, with addons and rebuys, and scale up to 20 (at 2 tables) though it’ll be a bit tight - both in chips and around the tables 😂

At some point I may get some China clays and relabel them if I can’t find any stock ones I like when I’m ready to upgrade. Graphic design isn’t my forte. It’d be nice if there was just a collection of all the designs somewhere to pick from.

Thanks for reading my novel! 😅
