I had been thinking about this in passing for a while, but then while catching up on the WSOP episodes I saw the Nuts segments and thought to myself, "Okay, self, let's get this figured out."

So, I thought it would be fun to have an event at BBotB for a $20 or so buy-in where the participants compete in chip-related skills. I'd like to keep it as objective as possible, so nothing like "coolest trick" or anything else that is completely within the discretion of a judge.

At this point I only have five possible events. I had the first in mind even before I saw them do it on the Nuts, but it's not exactly the most original idea anyway. The last one isn't original either, but I did steal that one directly from the Nuts. All will have rules (mostly time limits) drafted, but below are the basics of what I was thinking so far.

(1) Shuffling - who can perfectly interlace the most chips in one riffle?
(2) Mold Identification - who can identify the most number of molds correctly when blindfolded?
(3) Chip Cutting - who can cut out exactly 20 chips from a larger stack?
(4) Chip Weight - who can correctly rank 10 chips from lightest to heaviest?
(5) Chip stacking - who can stack chips the highest where the chips remain standing for 10 seconds after the time provided?

Anyone have any more? Would anyone actually enter this event? Of course, side prop betting would be encouraged either among participants or by observers betting on or against certain participants.

6) Chip Tossing - who can toss the most chips into a solo cup from some TBD distance?
7) Chip Stacking II - who can stack a splashed pot of 200 chips in 3 denominations into 10 stacks of 20 chips each each behind a certain line the fastest?
8) Splashed Pot Value - who can come the closest to determining the value of a splashed pot (2 minutes maximum)?

All solid. I think if we get a bunch more suggestions we'll have to do like a top 5 or 7 events or maybe base the number of events on the number of participants.

I was going to say make 3 & 5 a relay event where one member stacks 100-200 chips and then his teammate has to break it down into stacks of 20 (without knocking the stack over?)

@bergs #7 is probably better but I like team events.

Unfortunately, BBotB will be held in New Hampshire and state law prohibits any activity which emphasizes the collective over the individual.

(9) Limit Madness - when given the the limits ($2/4, 3/6, or 4/8), the street on which action is occuring, and the number of bets and raises before you, how quickly can you calculate and put out a raise with $1 chips? (maybe better to use $2 chips and limits of $4/8, 6/12, or 8/16)

Intriguing. I think I could perform in the top 10-20% in all of the proposed events. But, I'm pretty sure Butler would scoop me on everything. Don't fall for it. [emoji12]

It sounds fun. Not as fun as actually playing poker. Maybe it could be an early morning activity?

I'd play, damn you guys and your March Madness weekend Meat-Up. Can do #3 100% of the time and only one with a shot at catching me in #7 would have to have dealt the Wheel for a good long time ;)

Chip Trick Horse...duplicate the trick performed by the person before you...can be great for observers doing side bets.

Every Special Olympics needs an artsy contest - best tower maybe....after a 6 beer minimum...make it Special

Like @derekdd23 I will be crushed in the mold identification round. Also don't think I'll fare too well in the weight guessing or chip tossing rounds.

Yeah right. I'll take you even money against the field in the mold ID round (unless Abby99 or JM are participating...) I wouldn't feel too confident about the chip-tossing event myself, but considering that: A) I wouldn't be drunk and B) the only "athletic" skill I'm not completely horrible at is throwing things semi-accurately, I think I might still have an edge. :D

speed stack splitting (SSS) ..... have five stacks of 32 chips each. How fast can someone break those stacks down into 32 stacks of five chips (y)

***would be fun to have one hand tied behind their back too as a variation of the above

Cool idea! Possibly the one event I would actually have a shot at if I ever made it to one of these things...

I'm probably drawing dead on most of the events but I'm in

Chip cutting should also include various chip types - ceramics, Paulsons, CPC, china clay.

I can't shuffle chips so I would just be giving my money away. Sounds fun though, if you need a ref I can be bribed I mean I'm available.

China clays have no place in this or any other BBotB event.
Ooooo.... aren't we to good for Milanos
th
;)

J5, we would LOVE to have you attend. A lot of guys will be there who have worked with you on custom sets and I think playing with the guy that helped me with my customs would be awesome. You gotta make this - would be so epic.

@Johnny5

Be careful, this sounds an awful lot like a trap that ends with you locked in a basement, chained to a computer, designing custom sets for PCF members in New England who don't want to wait in line for your services.

@Johnny5 Toss: Top 3 who throw John furthest get 50% discount and priority design service on next custom set.

It's On You: players accumulate tokens each time they successfully induce @guinness or @Chicken Rob to act before ba-clock is called. Winner has most tokens (Dunes $500 should work, winner will not have over 5 of them) in one session and gets original fish membrane filtered guinness and Chick-fil-A sammich.

Urinal Wars: a $100 Milano chip is placed in chez chicken's urinal. Player who can piss on it from furthest distance away wins the chip. If female, she wins 1000 pc set.
