Anything with a handle for transport would give me pause at that quantity. That being said my Versa 600 case is very solid so Id bet on that or an Apache/Pelican case. The BR Pro cases look very sturdy as well.
Other than being longer, thinner, yet somehow bulkier, more awkward to travel with, and holding 1/2 as many chips, they are practically twins! Seriously, apples to oranges, they have a similar 1k chip case like that that I looked at and I would not buy one.

Has anyone had any experience with these 1000-chip cases? How good/reliable are they? I don't think I'd run with them, as long as the chips aren't in their boxes. My experience has shown that the 500-chip case is quite functional and not too heavy. But these? Are they even worth the money?
Or are they too fragile? I understand that not everyone likes them, but I'd love to hear from those who have or have had them.

I have one, tried it once by loading it up with 1000 leaded chips and while it worked, I didn't trust the handle enough to hold the weight for long.

They're fine as long as you don't trust the handle or the hinges or the latches.
To me, these cheap aluminum briefcases are perfect for home storage. But if you're traveling with them (or even just moving them from a shelf to the table) always use two hands.

The latches have held up fine on a couple of these that I've used, but the handles have failed under the stress of carrying the weight of fully packed cases, so the canvas carry bag is a good idea on two levels.
Chip-case-weight-wise, always remember that the best case scenario for everybody's lives is to get really old.

I’ve previously used birdcages (I hate the large handle on top that restricts storage), versa (I like the slim and durable construction of these), and traditional aluminum cases (cheap and not at all confident carrying these around).
Not sure if anyone’s recommended these in the past (I’m new here!), but I currently use a Fomito AB-27 camera bag (interior dimensions 41cm w x 28cm d x 22cm h). It’s about $50 on Amazon and can hold up to 15 racks. I’ve got mine set up for 12 racks (4 across x 3 high) with room for a couple card set-ups and dealer buttons. The case comes with Velcro partitions so you can customize, but as you can see, I use most of the partitions as cushion and filler. The base can actually fit five racks across if you need to fit a few more than I do. There are a couple of mesh pockets on the side walls perfect for extra cut cards, buttons, or card protectors. Since it’s fabric, it’s not as sturdy as the other options out there, but it seems solid enough for my needs. Single handle on top, but also a shoulder strap, which makes all the difference. For me, that means up and down a few stairs, in and out of the car, to and from home.
It sits a little cleaner on a shelf than a birdcage (shelf big enough to accommodate that extra handle height, that is), or the industrial-looking Versa case, or the flat and flimsy aluminum case. I like it for my larger tourney set. It comes in black and gray, but sometimes goes out of stock.

The other case I use is a Koolertron (also from Amazon). It sells for $43. It’s a smaller case but comes in multiple color variations. I use mine for my smaller cash game set. My set up is 3 racks x 3 racks but there is room for a fourth row, so you could technically fit 12 racks, but I haven’t tested it yet to see if it could handle that weight. This bag with nine racks and two card setups is about 21 lbs total, and seems just about right. Again, I chose to use the included partitions to use as filler, but still plenty of room for cards, buttons, etc.
This case is even less solid/sturdy than the Fomito, so if that’s important to you, this isn’t the carrier for you. It is a little more on the slouchier side. For me, it does the job and looks clean, top handle and a shoulder strap included. I plan to get another in a different color when I put together a smaller tourney set.

Those chips and their cases look amazing! I’m sorry for my offense. Hate is such a strong word and I forget just how passionate everyone here is about their chips and this community in general.
I suppose my dislike of birdcages stems more from my own clumsiness than anything else. I tripped down my buddy’s flagstone steps while carrying my chips. The birdcage shattered open, chips flew everywhere, it was quite a spectacle. I swore off birdcages ever since. Now when I trip over my own feet, my chips are all self contained in a zippered bag

I gave away my regular acrylic cages.
These are lexan. much more durable And cost waaay too much.
Always, each to their own. I’ve definitely judged other people’s poor choices in chip cases , hand selection etc.

This. Shelves full of Apache or Versa cases have a garage feel. Birdcages as display / case are a vibe.

Yep my display cases are just chip racks, and only single rows of them, true display case style.
There's definitely someone that has some photos of a nice birdcage displays in a bookshelf style desk or China cabinet. You just have to be careful, with them being two racks deep, they're heavy and you need very sturdy shelves.....

What I didn’t realize until I got one of these was how small and compact it is compared to a regular bird cage
