I've been thinking about setting up an ultra-deep stacked tourney that starts you off with 50 chips of seven different denominations, and T1,000,000. It's for a 6 person STT, and all of my friends are absolute fish, so I wanted to give them more legroom, and wanted to make the game more fun, as some of them will open to 1000 in a T10k with blinds of 50/100. I'm already getting a T50k set for this game, but I'm pondering adding on some 25k and 100k 47mm chips, mostly because I want a set of 47mm chips, but also for the reasons listed above. Any thoughts on this structure? This is not a joke btw.

How about a ∞BB tournament with blinds starting at ∞/∞?

If you want to give them more play-time, how about allowing rebuys when they bust? At least they would have some incentive to try not to piss their chips away too often.

So starting at 50-100?

Chips 25/100/500/1K/5K/25K/100K?

Stacks 8/8/4/7/8/6/8 = 49 chip

BB:
100, 150, 200, 300 (color T25)
400, 600, 800, 1200, 1600 (color T100)

20K, 30K, 40K, 60K, 80K (color T5K, 500K)
100K, 150K, 200K, 300K* (color T25K)
400K, 600K, 800K

Something like that, but I won’t have 500k chips and blinds would stop at 25k/50k.

Yeah you probably don't need 500K chips after all, 12 chips would cover 6M in play. 60 100K chips would be good

So the whole minimum breakdown for 6 players

48/48/24/42/48/36/48

For barrels
60/60/40/60/60/40/60

380 chips, less than I would have figured, but 6 handed no re-entry does make it small.

an ultra-deep stacked tourney that starts you off with 50 chips of seven different denominations, and T1,000,000. It's for a 6 person STT

this would be a quick game, blinds increasing every 15 mins.

starting at 50-100

Chips 25/100/500/1K/5K/25K/100K

Stacks 8/8/4/7/8/6/8 = 49 chip

I get 24 levels to expected end, 12 hours at 30 mins a level plus breaks.
T1,000,000 starting stacks with 50/100 opening blinds is a whopping 10,000 big blinds (pretty ridiculous, really). I calculated 25 levels typical maximum length, running about 6:15 plus breaks using 15-minute levels.

Although I typically do not recommend coloring up with chips that will be later removed, this is an exception due to needing more T1000s in play during the middle stages of the tournament, plus it works out more efficiently for the overall set breakdown.

Blind structure:
(6 players, T1M stacks, 15-min levels)
lvl sb bb
L1 50 100
L2 25 150
L3 100 200
L4 150 300
remove T25 chips (=T1200, requires 2x T1000)
L5 200 400
L6 300 600
L7 400 800
L8 600 1200
L9 800 1600
remove T100 chips (=T4800, requires 5x T1000)
L10 1000 2000
L11 1500 3000
L12 2000 4000
L13 3000 6000
L14 4000 8000
L15 6000 12000
L16 8000 16000
remove T500/T1000 chips (=T61k, requires 3x T25000)

L19 20000 40000
L20 30000 60000

L24 100000 200000
L25 150000 300000 ** EOT
L26 200000 400000

50 x T100 (2 extras)
25 x T500 (1 extra)
50 x T1000 (includes 7x for color-ups, 1 extra)
50 x T5000 (2 extras)
50 x T25000 (includes 13x for color-ups, 1 extra)
50 x T100000 (2 extras)
--------
325 chips (includes 11 extras). There will be 97 chips in play at tournament end, well within recommended amounts.

blinds would stop at 25k/50k.
Blinds never stop increasing in a tournament, ever. The total tournament length would significantly increase if doing so, with no escalating blind pressure on the remaining stacks. It could theoretically take forever, literally.

With 10,000 big blinds to start, you're already running at around six hours. If wanting to shorten the length, consider using the more aggressive blind structure below, which will typically end no later than L18 (4.5 hours plus breaks) using the same T1M stack size and 15-minute blind level times:

Blind structure:
(6 players, T1M stacks, 15-min levels)
lvl sb bb
L1 50 100
L2 25 150
L3 125 250
remove T25 chips (=T1200, requires 2x T1000)
L4 200 400
L5 300 600
L6 500 1000
L7 800 1600
L8 1200 2400
remove T100/T500 chips (=T16800, requires 1x T25000)
L9 2000 4000
L10 3000 6000
L11 5000 10000
L12 8000 16000

remove T1000 chips (=T49k, requires 2x T25000)
L14 20000 40000
L15 30000 60000
remove T5000 (=T240k, requires 10x T25000)
L16 50000 100000
L17 75000 150000
L18 125000 250000 ** EOT
L19 200000 400000
L20 300000 600000
L21 500000 1000000

Sounds fun! Interested to hear more about it plays.

I run a T1,000,000 tournament. It only takes about 4.5 - 5 hours, 20 minute levels.

Level 15001,000
Level 21,0002,000
Level 31,5003,000
Break, Color Up 500s
Level 43,0006,000
Level 55,00010,000
Level 610,00020,000
Break, Color Up 1000s
Level 715,00030,000
Level 825,00050,000
Level 950,000100,000
Break, Color Up 5000s
Level 1075,000150,000
Level 11150,000300,000
Level 12250,000500,000
Break, Color Up 25,000s
Level 13500,0001,000,000
Level 14800,0001,600,000
Level 151,000,0002,000,000
Optional Break
Level 161,500,0003,000,000

Now Admittedly, this starts at 500/1000, But it isn't rocket science to extrapolate it downward with 4 prefix levels (50/100, 100/200, 150/300, 300/600). However, you would be buying a lot of chips that will spend the majority of the night in a box.

At the Optional Break, you may color up the T100,000s, or just have the dealer color them up as they are bet. It is shorthanded by this point so one of our spectators (eliminated players sticking around to see who wins) will become a dedicated dealer.

As a side note, this structure gets the highest rebuy percentages with my group. Lots of chips, plus the hidden desire to bet "Doctor Evil" style gets pots unusually large early on.

This is what the Super High Roller Bowl uses. I got hooked watching it on Poker Go. No more than a 33% increase on any level IIRC, even the early ones. I'm using 250k to start, but I think it would work with 1,000,000. Especially with only 6 players.

If you run 20 min levels, I estimate you'd be done in 8 hrs or less.

Starting Stacks? Seven denoms make me go...

I'd suggest something like this...

T500 = 10
T1000 = 20
T5000 = 20
T25000 = 7
T100000 = 7

all of my friends are absolute fish, so I wanted to give them more legroom, and wanted to make the game more fun, as some of them will open to 1000 in a T10k with blinds of 50/100.

Would not allowing rebuys be better ?
