We have a hidden Facebook group that we use to send friendly game invites out. People have been checking (and responding) less frequently. We now have to send out texts at least a few days before to fill a table.

How do you invite your group to your games? May be important to note that we do not play routinely due to work obligations. Usually 1-3 times a month on the weekends.

I recently paid for the cheapest option on AnyVite.com after seeing another local host his games this way. It primarily works by sending out email invites (and reminders) that people can RSVP to.

You can see who has signed up, who hasn’t, and the date when people viewed the invite. It’s simple and easy and I love it.

Its very customizable with graphics/themes, and you can also link it to your own domain for integration into an existing website...

In full disclosure, the developers don’t really support it anymore, so some features (like the “m.” mobile version) are languishing in the 2009 era. That said, I still think it’s worth the $5/month subscription.

Some of my players are anti Facebook. Others refuse to signup for anything. I've always used email in the past but I've been using Doodle.com recently with more success.
I email them that the current signup for the month has been posted and they go choose which nights they can make. They just type in their name or initials but don't have to register.
Once I have enough for a game, I'll lock it in and let them know which games are scheduled.

Shutterfly also has something called ShareSites that can do calendar events and invites.

I used anyvite for many years as I much preferred the interface, setup & tools to evite. They shut things down several years ago, then moved to the paid subscription, and I moved back to evite, which has it's flaws but is free....

How is this working ? Are your players good at updating when things change and so on ?
Yes - I like it very much, it also allows me to modify as I need to. Most players keep their status up to date with the website.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I’ve tried to avoid emails but if I can automate it and send them out early enough it would surely work better than the Facebook setup. Perhaps texting the code group first may be the first step. Then sending a blast message out to the rest with x amount of seats leftover.

Have been poking at something like this for a few days. Eventually this is how all my games will be registered. If someone just shows up and I have an empty seat, great. If not, bye Felicia.

The site is still under construction but you can access with password 'pcftest'

https://justholdfast.com/theroost/

If you click on event list you can see a test event and even the option to register. Registrants get an email of the event, a link to a calendar reminder etc. There are paid add-ons for things like an SMS reminder etc but as an invite tool and something free, it's pretty nice. You can spend more for the paid version where you can create multiple events etc. but for now I think it serves it's purpose.

This is WordPress using a plugin called Event Espresso

This might be exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!

Myself and a few others in my area use HomePokerSystem.com. I've been using it for years. It has it's limitations just like all other sites, though this one's good because it's specifically catered towards poker leagues. It tracks points, payouts, buy ins, handles invitations, RSVP's, etc. Invitations go out by email, I usually send out an invite 3 weeks before the game, then one more the weekend before the game (we play on Tuesdays).

Looks cool but my guys refuse to sign up and log in to anything :(
Funny given we’re in Silicon Valley.

Been pondering this same issue (invites to players). Lots of good options to explore here. Thanks!

Reporting back in. I’ve switched to texting (iMessage on the computer makes it faster). If I were inviting people other than friends I’d probably use an email tool. Thanks again for the recommendations. If my game gets bigger I will definitely change.

I have very specific need for a somewhat simplistic calendar, but before I go through signing up for all the aforementioned websites, and apps, and testing them, I thought I post it here and maybe you guys have a simple/elegant solution.

I need to post 6-8 games on a calendar per month. The calendar needs to be visible to a group of people (likely can not use Google Calendar as many users aren't on gmail). This calendar should not be 'public'. The group members can see all the events, they can add their names to the list, but can not delete anyone else's name (if I give full edit access to a public calendar to the group, they can add/edit and modify, which is too much control. There is no control feature for just adding your name to the events on the calendar, yet not being able to edit/delete other names).

Any ideas is highly appreciated.
