So I'm doing inventory, looking over my dollars, mostly mint, White base with Royal Red and , looks like Dark Blue spot, and I find 7 chips without a Dark Blue spot, looks like Grey or off white. They are used so I'm not certain. Anyone else find a different color spot on their Aces dollars ??

I have asked a few members about the gray edge spots... the majority of mine are blue... I think about (30) of my 300 are gray... I asked if it was a secondary chip but no one seems to know... you may also notice that they are blue under the gray on the worn ones.
I noticed the blue, thought it was transfer

I thought the same thing as well, but tend to agree with Ben, when taking a closer look they appear to be worn on the edges of some of the chips where the gray was and blue is showing underneath. Very interesting indeed

I hope these are good enough @ovo and you know if it ever bothers you... they can come live at our place! Haha

You can see under the random gray chips they have the original blue is still there.

It is a color problem with the blue edge spot. There are numerous out there that have the fading problem. The only ones that don’t have the issue are the mint racks, which are few and far between.

+1 this ^^^^

The older chips I used to have had faded edge spots (top pic). Not sure why. Maybe from how they were cleaned?? The new chips I have don't have any grayish spots (bottom pic).

Definitely odd... but if you are holding the chips it feels like a layer of paint or something... and where the edges show blue beneath there is an exact line... not fading from one to the other... I don't believe this is from sun fading the gray is definitely gray not bleached blue... in my close up picture the gray chip still in the rack shows how clear the line is between the gray and blue... as time obviously it wears off but truly seems to me like it was some type of quality paint that was applied only to the blue edge spots...

someone needs to take one for the team, crack open one your mint chips please, right along the blue spot, and crack open a grey spotted chip too. If carmel comes running out I'll do some testing myself

Petrified hooker juice. :D

I’ve had thousands of these over the years, from several different batches, and the fading on the blue has been prevalent on numerous of them. Some of the fading is on the edge, some has been all over the blue. I’m by no means a scientist, but I would have to think it had something to do with factory production with the blue compound.
