Paulson: Full label replacement tutorial thread (3 Viewers)

Is this a paper label? It’s on there pretty good. the nail polish remover I used was pretty old and didn’t do much. softened it a little bit, but I need some sort of scraper still that won’t damage the chip but can scrape off the label.

Anyone know how to remove the part of label in the picture from the chip?

Try again. You have to put enough NPR on the inlay and let it soak. It should come off easily and mostly whole after that. I’ve been able to use pliers to peel the whole thing off this way

soaked for 25-30 seconds. i didn’t soak the whole chip just put drops all over the inlay.

any idea on how long is ideal to leave it on for?

I never soak the entire chip. I just dab some on the inlay, for about 5-30 seconds and they usually peel right off.

I did a thing.

I'll never do this thing again. It's pure torture. It seemed like the number of chips I had left were increasing. I'd rather pay $500 a rack. Lol.

I consider myself a patient person but some of you guys must be at an entirely different level.

For removing the fibrous paper labels off of chips, does the entire surface need to be spotless for a @Gear label to adhere?

Basically, is this good enough, or do I have more work to do?

Good enough. I'd give it a quick rinse/bath to get the dusty bits off, but otherwise I'd say you're good to go.

Most of that paper fibre will come off. Just drown it in a little NPR and some light scraping will do it. The first video in my little comparison thread of paper vs. vinyl will show you this easy last step.

Link please. I didn't see you post any videos in this thread.

Should Non-Acetone NPR bleed colors to your skin?

Did a couple and somehow the colors moved to my skin (which then smeared the other colored chips)

I used https://www.amazon.com/Nail-Polish-Remover-Majestic-Pure/dp/B07H8KP1PB/ref=sr_1_3?hsa_cr_id=5477005650401&keywords=B01D8NBY00|B01D8OR066|b01b0yezfu&lp_asins=B01B0YEZFU&lp_mat_key=nail+polish+remover&lp_query=nail+polish+remover&lp_slot=desktop-hsa-3psl&qid=1573573247&sb-ci-n=brandLogo&sb-ci-v=images/I/51QhnE1sDpL.jpg&sr=8-3&store_ref=SB_A03076491DVPN2E9QXUKH as the NPR.

FYI The Gambler's Dice is the hardest to remove, and dark blue chips bleed really easily.

yes some color's will bleed through, if it gets stuck on your finger and you move to another chip with it still on it will cause it to transfer over. always wipe your hands if you have it on you. either with alcohol swob or wash it off with water. This is the one i use.

Some of the Vinyls are easy to remove.

The presidents and WW2 Generals are almost impossible.

Any tips?

Does the NPR have to be unscented? The pink CVS brand I bought today has a slight chemical smell. Do most of you use unscented? Or does the chemical smell eventually go away?

Oh, they all smell. Very chemical. It goes away. I always do a chain before relabelling - remove inlay, wash chip, then oil, dry (paying extra attention to the inlay area).
