Paulson: Full label replacement tutorial thread (1 Viewer)

I had the same problem with some Players Casino chips, the sticker was super stuck on there. It ws a nightmare even with putting nail polish drops on it. Yesterday I went into YOLO mode and filled a little cointainer with the nail polish remover and just dunked the whole chip in there, let it sit for a bit. Pulled it out and used the pointy side of a safety pin to dig up a little edge and the whole sticker came up super easy. Did 2 racks in the time it took me to do 10 chips using the drops and scrape method.

No damage to the chips.

I started my chip removal by dunking the whole chip. Just be careful of certain colours. Arc yellow, and certain purples seem to be very reactive (changes or dulls the colour).

This chip has been in this nail polish remover for about 10min :nailbite: (Scrap chip)
The liquid was perfectly clear to start.
The label did peel off in one piece, but the last pic shows a color difference after soaking. The 25% area on the right had fragment of the label left on it, the 75% area on the left already had the label from that area removed, you can see a definite color difference. I'll wash it and put some oil on it and see how it looks.

Some (most) colours recover with oil since the NPR drys them out, but some won't.

In your photos, the fantasy chips label looks more like paper and the casino label is vinyl.

Nope. Those are both vinyl (or whatever they're made of) just one is way older than the other. Paper-based inlays are very obviously paper, and use a completely different adhesive.

The Scandia $1s that I did were among the easiest chips I've relabeled.

The Paris $1s were easy too and the AS chips weren't too bad either.

The Casa $5s are an absolute pig to do and so were the Irish Mike's I had. I don't think it matters whether they are casino or fantasy, I reckon it's just pot luck

Try the Paradice $25. I have a bunch of these waiting for me but cant get motivated to do.

I really like to see all that knowledge you guys put into this thread. Inlay replacement (with gear labels) can make a good looking chip looking gorgeous.

Yea i got some that are like that where its paper left over, i soaked it in NANP for 5 minutes n it scraped up pretty easy, just a longer process than the original inlay removals. 5 chips took me as long as the 20 tonkawas.

Are you soaking the whole chip in NANPR? If so, are you noticing any discolouration to the chips afterwards?
Be very careful when doing this. Some colours react quite badly such as Arc yellow (becomes duller), some purples (turns bluish), and pinks. NPR really dries out the chips too.

When I started using it I was submerging the whole chip.

That’s what I thought. I’ve always used a dropper as the very first inlay removals I did on the pink SDPM chips I was noticing discolouration, therefore been very cautious with all other chips since.

Has anybody ever sanded the face of a chip after removing the inlay? It seems as though there can be a slight valley where the adhesive was (kind of like a ketchup line) or sometimes if the knife edge hits the chip face it can leave a line. These imperfections are evident when using a laminated glossy black label...

I found there is no need to apply a lot of pressure on the label once in place. The glue seems to harden over time, so if you lay it in place lightly and then let it sit for a while a lot of these imperfections won't bleed through and the label will adhere.

An additional hint I thought I'd mention. Once I have removed the inlay, washed and dried the chips I put on a good layer of oil. During this process I wipe out the inlay area of the chip about 15 minutes later on each side. I find this removes excess glue left over (and also helps dry out where the labels will go).
