This certainly sucks!

From the Las Vegas Adviser:

October 08, 2019 09:56 Resort Fees Increased at Caesars, Nobu, and Rio:
Only two months ago, Caesars Entertainment CEO Tony Rodio said, “At some point, there’s going to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. I don’t think we’re there yet, but I want us to be very judicious and cautious about taking resort fees any higher. It’s certainly a revenue stream that’s hard to walk away from and it’s been accepted at this point," he added, "but we’re getting pretty high.” Well, apparently, the hated resort fees weren't high enough, as Caesars Entertainment has announced an increase of $7 per night at Caesars and Nobu and $3 at the Rio. The RF at Caesars/Nobu will now be $51.02 with tax, the Rio's $39.68. CET says that the increase keeps pace with its competitors; MGM Resorts raised its resort fees at its fanciest hotel-casinos recently by $6.

Will definitely be using Hilton Honors points if I make it out next year. Ridiculous!
I thought the $20 per night I paid on comped Borgata rooms was bad.
What a joke!

LOL, middle finger emoji is censored. So-

Fux Caesars and Fux MGM and Fux resort fees.

4 Queens downtown on Fremont is my spot- no resort fee & parking is included.

I'm planning on going in December, might stay downtown the whole trip.....how's 4 Queens rooms as compared to say The D?

Sheldon Addison is still alive and has "assets" in Washington. I can see a half-hearted attempt to cap the fees at some level, but RFs are probably here to stay.

It’s always about the kickbacks with Washington. RFs are definitely not going anywhere!

Congress did something similar several years ago when the Airlines weren’t disclosing the true cost of their fares. Now the advertised price of an airfare fare includes all fees and taxes, but not baggage.

Exactly. If resort fees are banned, they’ll just jack up room rates, or parking rates, or find another way to gouge you. Best to just drop trou and bend over when checking in.

Check!!!

This kind of crap is why Air band b and home away are so popular. Taxis in New York were terrible. Now Uber’s are great. The market will punish enterprises that do not deliver value.

My solution for the last couple of years is just not to go to Vegas. It's gotten to be crazy expensive, and there are so many other cheaper destinations to scratch the poker itch.

$50+ per night on top of advertised rates is bullshit.

Jacking up room rates is fine! I mean, of course a hotel will charge whatever people will pay. No issue there!

But significant RFs means you have to do a bunch more work to compare prices, and the ONLY reason to do it this way is to make comparison between hotels more difficult.

I’d love to see a rule that says the advertised price has to include all charges required to sleep there for a night with no car.

This is one of those things that are BS. The reason these fees exist is that online hotel searches rank properties by price hence they want to appear to have the lowest room rate to hit the top of the listings. But the real cost is when all the fees are added.

The airlines are doing the same BS with these "no frills" fares where you get a seat but can't bring more than a toothpick as luggage - they want to get to the top of the search listings. Once you add a bag and pay for a seat, the price gets back to what is normally would be and may not be competitive.
