Ok I know poker chips are a small following but does anyone know about writing pens? Looking to get a good quality and nice pen as a gift any brands better or more exclusive then others I.e. paulsons vs others?

I am interested but could never be bothered getting into fountain pens.

Only the finest US Government pens for me.

I have one nice S.T. Dupont rollerball from back when I had more money than brains. From what I remember, you can spend as much as you want on a writing pen.

This one's nice: Montegrappa. Only $5.99 shipping.

Montblancs are universally prized, and are widely available. You can spend thousands on a Scheafer, Parker or a Pilot, or $50-100 for something reasonably priced from those same makers, that uses the same refill.

First you have to decide whether you want mass-produced or custom made. Then what type of pen you want -- fountain pen, rollerball, ballpoint (liquid, gel, etc.). Then you have to decide on the physical characteristics you prefer -- fat, slim, long, short, clip/no clip, etc.

Then you can blow as much money as you wish!

You can even blow $18K for 24 BICs, so it really is just like chips!

You know that's the equivalent of a de-slugged dice chip:LOL:
Not true because clay chips imo are functionally better than dice chips.

I’ve not found a quality pen yet, that is actually as comfortable or as nice to write with than a good old medium tip bic.

And I’m a real handwriting snob too, even my note taking is super neat.

Just like the chip advice to get samples, try it out. It's gotta feel good in your hand, but you also have to like the ink flow, thickness or the pen stroke, etc.

I have a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck, and I really love it. Its pricey, and I don't think it's worth the cost, but it is far superior to the pens at the office. I got mine as a gift.

Budget? Much like poker chips pens come from 20c a piece to $100k for limited editions.

I had nice Montblanc pen in college I received as a gift. Loved it, accidentally drove over it. Never bought another nice pen again. :(

Work provides basic pens so I don’t want to spend my own money on one, but I do appreciate a smooth writing pen.

Bic>Write Bros. I find it is hard to beat a medium Bic as said above.
There was a local news story recently about a guy who was embezzling from a labor union. I believe he spent around 50,000 dollars on 2 pens. I could think of way better stuff to waste my money on!

I'm fond of Fisher Space Pens. I like the blue bold refill. There are numerous bodies that can hold this refill, but I like this body.

Ain't nobody got time for fountain pens.

I'm fond of Fisher Space Pens.

Me too. I especially like the bullet space pens for travel. They're the only pens I ever carry outside the house. Three inches long -- carry one in your front pants pocket, and you'll hardly ever get stabbed in the nuts.

There are non-calligraphers who take pride in writing with fountain pens. Recidivist wackos, but they're out there. o_O

I have a lot of fountain pens. I agree that they're impractical for someone who writes rarely but if you write often, they're much more comfortable to use and a far better writing instrument (when properly made and maintained).

Biro = dice chip
Roller ball = ceramic
Fountain pen = CPC customs

I love fountain pens. Discovered the pleasure of writing with them since last November. I started Bullet Journalling to organize my work and personal life. It has really helped me plan out my days, weeks, months, and goals.

I’m a huge fan of Pilot and Pelikan pens. I buy them for the amazing writing feeling / experience of writing with them. It’s a pleasure that FP users understand but hard to explain to others. I bought one and got hooked on the feel and the amazing assortment of ink colors to dabble around with.

My favourite FP to date is the Pilot 823 with a Medium Nib, followed by the Pilot 823 with a Fine Nib.

Some FP pr0n for any FP geeks in this forum
