Nice quality writing Pens (1 Viewer)

The store was awesome! I ended up with a M nib for the 823. My Vanishing point is F, more for every day carry so I figured a M would be a better fit.
Yeah, they had the 1911s and 1911L. I tried the F and M nibs. It wasn’t a flex nib, but felt really springy. Still on the want list  :whistling:

Little off topic but for quality mechanical lead pencils. The Rotring 600’s and GraphGear 1000’s are popular.

And for a very cool innovation to mechanical pencils are the Uni Kuru Toga’s! They have a built-in mechanism to automatically spin the lead inside as your write. Keeping the leads sharp and consistent. Pretty cheap and cool tech.

Below are the Kuru Toga Roulette, Kuru Toga Advance, and the Standard Kuru Toga.

Come on man, WTF are you doing? It's bad enough that I throw money away on pens and poker chips but now you have me buying pencils too? Have some pity...

@Darson good thing I didn’t let the cat out of the bag that erasable coloured leads for mechanical pencils are a thing these days

And they go perfectly with the Kuru Toga’s. Especially matching coloured pencil bodies.

Phew. That was a close call. ;)

I have a collection of maybe a dozen nice pens, including two Cross Townsend pens (the base for several presidential pens)

My hands-down favorite is a Waterman Expert ballpoint pen. Beautiful, solid, balanced. Mine was a glift from my wife 15 years ago and it still looks brand new.

They're around $100, so in the price range of a very nice and practical gift.

Late to this and still didn't read through...If looking for a gift that no-one would meh at...but still has a good range in pricing look at Lamy. There are also good deals st Costco on Montblancs.

Just came back from the fountain pen hospital. I liked Yoseka Stationary more even though it was much smaller.

look at those spot colors!

@yone Looks like a cool place to check out. Too bad I don’t have any cool stores to check out here. I have to resort to online buying and Kijiji.

I grew up around Mont Blanc pens but never developed a taste for them. I prefer PaperMate disposables to Bic when using ink.

My degree is in math so I use pencils a lot. Blackwing are - by far - my favorite, followed by Mitsubishi and, of course, Dixon Ticonderoga. I have a couple vintage Japanese-made manual Elm pencil sharpeners that do very well in terms of consistently producing a sharp, strong, and even point.

Sharing for those who are on the look out for some nice paper to try out.

I’ve been searching for cheaper Fountain pen friendly paper and alternatives to my Dingbats A5 journals that I use everyday.

And stumbled upon Kokuyo Sarasara loose leafs paper in A5 & B5 in the hopes of keeping my paper and journal costs down. (Note Kokuyo has Sarasara and Shikkari loose leaf paper. I’ve only tried Sarasara. Both are good for FP as I’ve read so far. The difference is that Sarasara paper is smooth and Shikkari is less smooth.)

Kokuyo Sarasara loose leaf paper is really smooth and fountain pen friendly. You can find them on amazon and other places. What’s cool is that you can get small ring notebooks to keep them in.

It’s much whiter than my creamy Dingbats.
Dingbats on top and the Kokuyo paper on the bottom.

My starter slim smart ring notebook came with the same pre-dotted paper I bought. If you look carefully you’ll see the dots.

the real star of the show is the paper. Fountain pen friendly, smooth, and did not bleed / ghost through.

I liked it so much that I ordered a Kokuyo Systemic folio type of system to house the notebooks in. I got the B5 size and plan to replace my Dingbats journal with it. Nicer paper and cheaper in the long run.

Sharing in case it helps someone out.

I was looking at the Campus note books. I might try them out, thanks for the mention.
The pens and paper are more expensive in the stores, but it’s nice to test drive them. We did buy the Custom 823 at Yoseka Stationary because the customer service was so wonderful and we wanted to support. We are going back next Sunday, my girlfriend prefers the M nib over the F vanishing point I got her.

Today I got a little note book to keep track of buy-ins for my home game.

Platinum has a reasonably-priced maki-e line with some pretty appealing designs, my SO has one even though she doesn't really use it anymore as neither of us really write anymore.
