I sold some chips and $ will be sent directly to Davin as I do not PayPal....as soon as this thread is deleted.. And my rating change from "scammer" to late payer or something accurate. I have emailed Davin with these requests.

Sorry I lost my temper and reacted like a child.

Mike

You paying him back is a good step. Glad you came around to that.

But you making the payment conditional on this thread being deleted and your rating being changed first is frankly out of line.

You owe him the money, regardless of anything else. Just pay him and let the thread and feedback issue be a polite request. You don't get to strong-arm demands out of someone you owe money to.

Totally agree. After the debt is repaid (and only after)I think it would be reasonable to ask for the title of this thread to be changed and to ask for feedback to be revised. But it is unfair to future new members to delete a thread like this.

Make the money right and you'll easily rebuild your reputation.

How about if you are not Davin or Mike you don't talk

No matter what , the damage is done I want all this scammer shit cleaned off before hand. Regardless of what you want

This is just a public notice of the current situation Not a debate

LOL seriously?

Dude, you've pretty much cemented your repuation around here and no one is likely to deal with you again.

See, you want the scammer shit dealt with, but what you don't see is that the scam is still ongoing.

From your perspective, you're offering to pay Davin back. From my perspective—and I doubt I'm alone in this—you're still withholding payment.

You're still acting like this thread or the feedback or anything that has happened outside of your promise to pay gives you some kind of moral high ground to not pay. None of it does.

Your reputation is about how you behave, not just one little thread or piece of feedback. It doesn't matter if the thread or the feedback changes. People see how you're behaving. You're not conducting yourself like a man.

Insolence is the word I'd choose. That is the thing that needs to change for your reputation to be restored.

I’ve always been fascinated by human psychology and the last page of this thread has been quite interesting. Extreme lack of self awareness always amazes me.

For some reason this story keeps coming to mind
https://myfox8.com/2018/08/28/bride...after-guests-refuse-to-pay-for-60000-wedding/

I read the series of screenshots that went up on Twitter about this. The woman's attitude about all of it baffles me. Somehow she couldn't see that she wasn't having a wedding so much as hosting a party for herself with an extremely high ticket price, and then getting furious with her friends and family for not emptying their wallets to pay for it.

I can definitely see the connection to the latest twist in this thread.

Lol at the desired "late payer" rating... when it was crystal clear by his responses that he had zero intention of paying at all.

Good luck, Davin -- hope he makes it right.

Every minute you don't pay @davin, you are cementing yours.

The deal was, I'll pay $200 for raffle tickets with a set date to pay after the raffle. The deal never was I can unilaterally push out the date without communicating and if you call me a scammer I don't have to pay. The deal also never was I can unilaterally push out the date without communicating and if you call me a scammer, I don't have to pay until you undo that.

Make good on the deal you made, deal with the consequences of not sticking to your deal. Acknowledging you were wrong was a step in the right direction. Now let's get this transaction over the finish line and save whatever reputation you have left and work on building it back up.

The thought behind this demand/ request was that I pay him after I realized I was wrong and I felt bad , as I am not a scammer or a thief . All the bad things said about me would be removed, but not forgotten . And we could all move on and enjoy this hobby together , I see now that was not going to happen thread removal or no removal .

I am also interested in human psychology and specifically how people justify their actions. The extreme example is psycopaths but they are fairly rare and don't seem to struggle to justify what they do.

However there is a broad range of people between your "average joe" and a psycopath....everyone needs to justify their actions to themselves. The larger your ego and the less empathy one has I think it gets easier to make these justifications.

My hunch which seems to be true is that not very many people out there will straight up steal or rip you off. However, when deals enter the grey area of morality (or perceived gray area) then it becomes easier to justify dishonesty (at least to oneself).

Anyway, its a rabbit hole but one I find super interesting as it applies to everyone.

EDIT: @Mike mac none of this is directed at you....just rambling here...

My 2c is that you pay him back and let the chips fall where they may. It is an ugly situation and I don't really think it is fair that you dictate any terms of how it plays out.

You are not obligated to be friends afterward but you do owe him money.

Also no one is saying Davin handled it perfectly but that can't cancel out the debt owed.

Pay him back and then live and let live. I want to see a happy ending :)

I think it @davin gets paid, it's on him to address this situation.

I'm not @davin, but it seems to me the title "scammer" is a bit harsh. It may have seemed appropriate at one time, but if the debt has been squared, it's a different story.

I would think @davin would come here and set the record straight, but there is nothing wrong with you confirming what has taken place recently and letting everyone know the debt has been paid. Give people facts, let them decide for themselves. It's the best you can do.

But making payment contingent on deleting this thread is not an option, IMO. If nothing else, it serves as good advice for future sellers and buyers how to avoid problems and how to react (and not react) if they do arise.

Hard stop. What happens after that is not up to you to dictate. Just pay him with no strings attached. Maybe he deletes the thread, maybe he doesn't. I would hope that he at least changes the thread title and updates your feedback, but it's all his decision.

You already made a deal with him. He entered you in his raffle, as per his end of the deal. Now you live up to your end and fork over the money. You don't get to attach additional strings.

For being in a situation that's pretty cut and dry, this sure is complicated. Owe money, pay money, situation good.... I would think once the debt is paid, this would go away or be edited, but it's not the other way around. He already got burned by trust, you don't get a second time at that.

Every minute you don't pay @davin, you are cementing yours.

Like the old saying goes “reputations are hard to build but easy to destroy”

or as Warren Buffet once said , “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently”.

This was a purchase of a chance, not a purchase of actual goods. One party assumed risk by extending credit and the other reneged when there was no longer a chance for a return on the yet-to-be made expenditure. There is culpability to be shared on both sides of the issue, though I don't think it's a 50/50 split.

Regardless of whether you two arrive at a settlement; please do not delete this thread. Threads such as these are more helpful in researching potential buyers and sellers than are ratings.

Yea just like Bill Cosby always says, "takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only 60 rapes to ruin it. Words to live by.

I give up

To be honest, you could have said "how about I put things right, then this thread gets taken down" and that would have put you in a better light.

As it is, an innocent bystander could be forgiven for thinking you're trying to turn things to your advantage when your main priority should be putting things right.

I told Mike when I see the money in my PayPal I'll be a believer and do as he requested, I have yet to see any funds in my PayPal

The chips will be sent at 530 to my buyer - a tracking # will be provided. If this thread is deleted at that time , the money will be sent to Davin. Also my rating will be changed to late payer or something more accurate.

I'm not being part of a "community " that burns people at the stake for a mistake they are trying to correct .
Your call Davin

I'll check back at 530 eastern time
Regards Mike

@davin
