WSOP house mold (1 Viewer)

Yeah, I agree, the font looks like crap, Arial Bold maybe hahaha. I don’t like the house mold, but at least they probably feel ok...not that I’ll be playing in a big enough event to use em this year
We can always dream about playing them one day haha.

Why not? I think the only chips that NV gaming commission requires to be destroyed are value chips. Since these are NCV's, similar to roulettes, they might actually survive.

And if it's true that GPI had to replace all of the chips for free, they could realistically "retire" the original tournament secondaries, and sell them to the home market to recoup some costs.

C'mon GPI.... ONE TIME!

Interesting spot pattern.... and better than a lot of the other ~newer~ patterns introduced by GPI, imo. Chip color choices are okay. Not a fan of brown chips in general, but this one isn't bad, just not a good choice for a T100.

What is really strange is the inlays -- it appears that they are using the same inlays as before, which were basically color-matched to the base clay colors. Note the gray inlay on the brown T100, arc yellow inlay on the yellow T1000, the blurple inlay on the T500, and the lime green inlay on the T25 chip. Very weird. I think they'd be much better looking if the inlays were color-matched, or all uniform. Adding a fourth major color can cause issues.

Everybody knew that new wsop chips were being made (recent NGC report). What has yet to be confirmed is whether the old 818-spotted set will be used this year or not.

Good catch, there was something off but I hadn’t figured out what it was. Leads me even more to believe these were a last minute rush job pushed through after finding out about the previous issue. It takes time to get a designer to tweak artwork, approve changes etc, much faster to just say “let’s pick some rough colors that will function, slap some unique uncopyable edge spots on and run these before anybody loses their mind”

Wow, didn't even notice that in first glance, that is atrocious.

Here's my mock-up of the aforementioned 2018 Tournament chips. Are these for Side Events only, or all events?

They’ll probably be for all the limit events as the 818 chips were
These are being used right now in Event #2: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Super Turbo Bounty

Event #1 is using BJ chips as of right now in the Casino Employee Tournament

Need to correct your inlay colors.
I know, but with current inlay colours it's just plain atrocious. I mean, really, no time to change the center's BG colours?
Edit: You asked for it, here we go.

Using the same inlays. Lazy. They ruined the 100. The mold looks horrible. Why not do "WSOP" with the correct font? 25, 500 and 1,000 look great though.

Horrible mold horrible colors (especially that brown!!) and not at all a fan of this weird edge spot pattern

I'm okay with the colors. They don't even look remotely as bad as in the mockups that were made just from the intel in the chip report.

But that spot style is seriously tilting me. Unchanged inlay with no longer matching body color does the rest.
House mold should read World Series of Puke.

If the WSOP changed out all their chips because there were chips that looked similar - could be relabeled - then why did they also use a cheap RT Plastic (maybe BJ) chip that is even easier to replicate via a relabel to use as a bounty chip? o_O

New chips ≠ a result of the ES secondaries. In fact, the WSOP would stand to lose much more from the easily counterfeited bounties. The story simply does not add up. The more likely story is that they simply got new chips.

That BG bounty chip may be RFID serialed. Hence the lack of concern.

Don't mind the colors, love the creativity of the new edgespot and absolutely hate the house mold. They could have done so much more with it...

I better not say anything since there is nothing good to say about those chips at all.

Actually, I take it back, the colors on the T500 are alright. But it definitely stops there.

Really sad they are using old inlays on these chips, makes them look bad, too many colors going on.

I think it just goes to show that 99%+ of poker players/casinos/vendors really just don't care that much about chip designs.

Did anyone catch the odd conversation about chips during the SHRB? Some one was making a fancy chip-stack at some point, and then Ali Nejad started talking about it. They had a guest player in the booth, and they asked him if he does any elaborate chip stacking at the table. After some brief discussion, Ali then asked him, "What about the side paint? Do you like to line up those little areas of side paint when you make your stacks?"

WTF?

The player said he "never pays much attention to the side paint areas" when he's stacking his chips at the table. Side paint areas? Really? I'd love to find that part of the coverage and clip it out and post it. It was pretty damn funny (to chippers at least).
