I'd offer chips from all 3 casinos so people can mix and match. This will lower shipping cost and if people don't have to pay more for shipping they will buy more chips.
Holy Effin balls. Sleeper post of the year. Almost 3 yrs after your join date you make your first post. Nicely done! You must have the patience of a Venus fly trap

Ok. I check this forum 4-5 times per day and this is the first time I checked this thread. I thought it was some kind of travel thread ! New chips are good though!

OK

Just in case someone needs 5s to get to the right totals. i only want 2 racks of 5s. As long as they aren't too expensive.

any help would be greatly appreciated

One problem with 3 separate sales is then the guy with the fastest fingers and internet connection gets to "win" all 3, if he wants to. A rube like me whose "ISP" is AT&T Cellular has no shot at anything and might as well not bother.

In a combined sale, if you are trying to load up your cart with stuff from all 3 sets and then check it out, you're doing it wrong and are likely going to lose out. You go for what you REALLY want, check out, and then come back one or two more times to see if there is anything left after the carnage. People are forced to pick their highest priority, and as long as mine is not the same as EVERYONE else's, I might have a shot to pick something up.

No suggestions here, just pointing this out in case others haven't thought about it. Not saying I'm buying anything regardless. :whistling::sneaky:

I've won a bunch and lost a bunch on previous TCR first-come-first-served loose-chip sales (with restrictions).

That said, I really don't like the format unless there are sufficient chips available to meet the demand (or most of it).

When the bulk quantities are limited (to the point where they sell out in seconds in a free-for-all format), there are better ways to give everyone an equal and equitable chance to buy chips.

Jim's sight-unseen pre-sale threads have always been an entertaining mixture of anticipation and gambool.

This is a great idea!

Not only is it completely fair and a bit of a gamble but it should also create more trading within the community.

That's true but there is something very wrong with calling dinner supper :)

Well, "dinner" originally meant the mid-day meal, and "supper" was the evening meal. That distinction has been mostly lost, because we Americans tend to be slovenly with our language, and, despite our current leadership, we are the "melting pot".

it is obvious that this will be a quick sale. very fast ...
Nativ lights are very good. They remind me of the "Empress". (with the exception of mold. I'm tired of Hats and canes.. :) )

I'm not at that interested in buying right now, but I'm curious what kind of inventory will typically be sold? The way you guys are talking about how fast it will go sounds like only a few thousand chips will be made available? Perhaps I'm underestimating the demand...

Quantity doesn't really matter......I usually put the o/u line at 5 minutes, and I always take the under............

I believe Jim has indicated the amount of total chips available in this upcoming sale will be limited.

What’s limited? We’re new here and trying to get a grasp on the market.

Is there a reference that shows total number of chips made for each casino? When the horseshoe casinos closed did Jim get every single chip made? That sort of thing...

I guess I'm just imagining you know...is it 500 of each denom that gets released? If so that will only satisfy 2 or 3 customers. If 5-10k of each denom get released though....

I just have no sense of the quantity and what kind of demand there is for this kind of thing, like chubby said. I had thought there was still horseshoe chips that could be bought from the original sale, so this must be on a much smaller scale?

He stated that there weren't huge chip numbers but as far a lower values go I'd assume there is easily 10,000+ of the ones and even more of the fives. The high denoms will be in much lower quantities. Any fracs will be probably be pretty scarce, too.

Yes. Something like 300,000 chips were released just from the Cleveland Horseshoe (I believe Jim posted the exact number in a thread somewhere - we usually do get to find out after all the chips have sold.)

These casinos are smaller by orders of magnitude; no way to know how many chips they had and how many Jim ended up with but I'd ballpark it at 1/10 of that for each casino, give or take. Jim usually does not release the entire inventory in a single sale either; I expect some will be held in reserve for a "Black Friday Sale." ;) These are desirable chips and if Jim prices them like he usually does, all but the most plentiful couple of denoms will be sold out within a few minutes of the sale going live, you can take that to the bank.

There might only be 500 or so of the fracs and/or $500 chips - maybe more but not a lot more. The highest-quantity chip for any casino is normally the $5; then some casinos have a comparable number of $1s with less $25s (e.g. PCA, Oak Tree, Horseshoe) or some have more $25s with $1s being in short supply (Grand Victoria, Empress, PNY.) The $100s usually hold out pretty well as casinos normally have them in higher proportions than we want them for our home games, but I would expect all the fracs and either the $1 or $25 chips from each casino to be gone in less than a minute. I'm sure Jim will try to address that with percentage limits as he has in the past, but that only helps so much when quantities of certain denoms are extremely limited.

Thank you for this answer!

If that many horseshoe chips got released... why are they not in the FS thread more often? Was it recent enough that people still have the new buy sentiment? Or is 300,000 a smaller number compared to some other chip releases? How many of the other old casino chips are “in the wild”? Like say PCA and GV or whatever... I’m not trying to derail... though we’ve already done that here...

Dang, I guess I'm just under estimating demand. It'll be interesting to sit on the sidelines and watch this one.

I'm pretty sure Jim said that the HS sale was one of the largest he'd ever had.......but the threads get removed pretty quickly after the sale, so it's lost to the way-way-back machine if you can find it......

No it was huge - his biggest ever I think, if not then very close to it. Why they aren't in the classifieds "more" often I can't answer; feels to me like there's been practically nothing but Horseshoes in the classifieds for a year straight. o_O
