Chip Display Cases... ON SALE NOW at Michaels (1 Viewer)

Cool thanks. Hoping to find one of those coupons that stack with the 50% off and then I'll load up the truck.

Picked up a few more of these today to add to the 8. Great deal for $15/each.

I just bought out my local Michaels, they had 6, $15, plus when the cashier asked if I had a Michaels account, I said no, got 25% my total order for signing up, total was $73.42 after tax for 6, or $12 each. (y)
I feel like I need to go to the next store, sign up again and get 6 more.......... ;)

I picked up 4 more at the next store, bought them out too... :)
The first one I opened was broken on the top corner behind the cardboard protection........but the other 9 were ok.
I also found out the 25% coupon was just something they had at the counter, so no second Michaels account needed, she just scanned the coupon and I got the discount.

Sadly, I think I will be returning the 10 I bought yesterday :( All 10 have sticky residue on the edges (bought from two different stores) and they just don't hold enough chips. I can only fit 4 chips side by side in air-tites, and 5 without. I'm going to be looking for a much larger display solution instead...

Well they certainly make bigger cases but you can overlap slightly and get up to 8 chips per row (see my post above with @Toby 's samples all on one row). Plus you don't need air tites with the display cases do you? Come on man, open the door and fondle the chips once in awhile. (y)

What I like about this size is you can fit 1 sample set per row instead of just putting a bunch of chips next to each other that don't go together which is what you'd do with the larger models.

Those bigger cases are like $50 each. I did the math a while back. You get more bang for your buck with the smaller cases.

I've been looking for these for my casino chip collection. Gonna have to run out tomorrow and look for one or two at my local Michael's

If you're lucky... ones I saw were more, and add on shipping... yikes. Let's say like $70/case, and they hold 100 chips? Like $.70/chip. The small cases hold 30+ chips at $14 each. Or around $.45/chip. But go with whatever fits your sensibilities. Hard to top @Jeff s wall of chip displays. Just sic!

I have some filling of these to do, but I got them on the wall today after many many months.

I picked up one today. Runs 29.99 but I found a 20% off coupon online to bring it down to 25. Not a bad deal. Can easily fit all the chips I want to display with room for more

@72o is it possible to take the door off of these (just unscrew hinges)? And do you think it would look okay? With chips in air-tites, not sure the door is even needed.
Oh yes. I did that with one of mine because of the way it was mounted at the time. I couldn't get it open due to an adjacent wall so I hinged it from the top. It's pretty flimsy wood and uses tiny screws so I wouldn't count on being able to reuse the same screw holes. The nice thing about everything being flat black is wood filler and a swipe of matte black paint will cover up your handy work if needed.

I've since relocated everything and the case in question got repurposed to a stand-alone challenge coin display for my brother in law. AFAIK his is still hinged from the top.

The other thing I do is I take the hanger off the back. I mount mine directly to the wall using drywall screws through the fabric in the back, placed such that a chip or coin will cover the screw. Much more sturdy but you have to make sure everything is level or you'll step back and go "damnit!"

Hey man. Yeah you could easily do that but not sure I would. There are 2 recessed areas where the hinges sit. You can fill the screw holes as @DJ Mack suggests but you can’t easily do anything about the notched frame if that would bother you. Not sure I would want zero protection from chips falling out either (something hits the wall you may get a wiggle from the chips).

Good suggestion with changing the mounting method. I use “hangman” cleats and they work well with these.

Does anyone know if you can fit 4 x air tites with the foam ring on a single shelf of the small Michael’s display case without overlapping? I see that Rainman fit 4 direct fit air tites per row in post #94 above. I’m interested in a similar look but with foam ring.

Shelf width on my cases is 7.5 inches. That means you can fit four equally sized objects up to 1 7/8" across with no overlap. The only airtites with rings I have are for 43mm chips and they're an even two inches across so four wouldn't work. Not sure how wide a 39mm airtite with ring is, but if you already have some you can take a quick measurement.

Seems like it might work. 4x43mms is eight inches. Assuming the 39mm airtite is 4mm smaller that's 16mm or .63 inches total which would put your row at 7.4ish.

I have been surprised for some time that @T_Chan hasn't come up with a bad ass design for chip displays. The price point that these sometimes have is extremely hard to compete with for something high quality but there are a lot of people who are more concerned with bad-ass vs inexpensive.

I know this is an old thread, but I still buy and use these display cases, and just discovered today that Michael's sells them in an 8-pack for ~50% off the normal price, which seems like a solid deal, I was going to buy 4 at 50% off yesterday, but missed the sale, so these are on a 'permanent' sale at ~$15.74/each.....
Just FYI

And 8 would be perfect for my current installation...... ;)
