Chip Display Cases... ON SALE NOW at Michaels (2 Viewers)

I picked up another case. Picked up a small case for my daughter and grandson

Where did you get that mini- shadow box, and how are the chips held in place?

Tri nice setup. The link is broken. Do they still sell these?

I was considering labeling each chip with a little plaque, so the project isn't officially finished.

I like this idea. My wife has a label maker. :)

Problem I foresee is that these tend to rotate around some. I just acquired a few new sample sets, and I think I'm going to have to have all my china clay samples become bench warmers... I'm accumulating samples at an astronimical rate... Good thing, I suppose. Just no where to display them all...

Reminds me of one of those comical "first world problems" threads...

Just checked this morning's paper and you can guess where I'm headed after I shower and grab a bite to eat. All week long it's 50% off all frame collections by Studio Decor and at the lower right it shows that it includes the entire stock of display cases and shadow boxes. Then for two days only (9-4 and 9-5) they've got a 20% off entire purchase coupon specifically including sale items. The online code for this is 20DEAL9416T.

There's also a 50% off any one regular priced item coupon that probably won't be much use in this instance but the code for that is 50DEAL9416T.

...and success. They had five on the shelves but I only bought four. Didn't want to be a jerk :D

The 8 x 14.8 cases are regularly $29.99. Take 50% off and then 20% off and my total out the door was $51 with tax. Looks like I got @Trihonda beat by a buck! Score!

So I'm definitely getting some of these! How many regular 39mm chips fit in a row. I'd like to start collecting sample sets and want to figure out how many I need.

Five, shoulder to shoulder with just a bit of wiggle room and there's six rows. Plenty of height for bigger chips but that will obviously cut you down to four per row.

Great thanks. I wonder if 5 is enough for sample sets. Don't most have like 7-9 chips? Should I maybe get a longer one? I envision getting different sample sets and putting them on each row. What do you guys think?

Where do you get the 20% off? I called me local store and they have 2 of these in store. Do I need to show a 20% coupon?
For my in store purchase I got the coupon in today's (Sunday) paper in the Michaels insert.

As to sample sets with more than 5 chips yes some will span multiple rows. I've already plotted out a Horseshoe Casino one basically taking an entire case with generous spacing and allowing for the larger chips too.

I wonder if it's better to just pick one chip of each set and collect single chips over time, or just get full sample sets?

However, continuing onto new rows and having some rows half full with different sets will tilt my OCD.

So it's either 6 full sample sets and I pick the best 5 chips out of each set, or it's a single chip from 30 different sets.

What do you think would look better?????

You can easily get more on each shelf by evenly spacing them with a consistent overlap. I have up to 7 on one shelf!

Mack see above. Are you able to fix 7 a row or are these cabinets capped at 5?

Meh. You can get 7 with overlap as @David O says but there's a caveat. At the bottom of each row there's a narrow groove to rest the chips in. If you have more than five you're not going to be able to use the groove because the chips will be angled somewhat. There's a door on the wall where my case is set up. After a few good openings and closings the chips have shifted around a bit. A good slam and it's a total mess. Your OCD is not going to like that. But if I do five or less and use the groove things stay put.

I think they also have wider cabinets no?
